I don't know where you get your misinformation. They didn't forget their guns, they had them. Many in the crowd were armed, so they wouldn't go through the metal detectors where Trump was speaking. Trump wanted the detectors removed, "They're not here to hurt me."
In addition to people in the crowd being armed, there were guys with rifles in trees. The Oath Keepers, Proud Boys, and other groups had caches of arms nearby, they were awaiting Trump's call to arms. That's all a matter of record: Police comms transcripts and evidence from Republicans at the Jan 6 Commission.

Multiple people, Tactical gear, Rifles slung or low-ready and Pistols holstered. Those pictures are taken from a Republican anti-lockdown and anti-Gun legislation protest in Michigan.
Show me a picture of people like that, in the capitol building, from Jan 6th and I'll concede the point.
But you cannot. Because such a picture does not exist.
because if it did exist, it would be front and centre of every Left-Wing media outlet report on Jan 6th and every anti-2nd amendment opinion piece from then until eternity.
You're taking the word here, in that video, of someone whom we have objective evidence that they are at best mistaken - whose testimony makes it sound like Trump (a nearly 80 Year old) could fight off Secret Service Agents?

I mean guys with Rifles in Trees sounds like a Vietnam flashback... I've seen pictures alleging Oath Keepers were armed and in the trees - but all I found to support that was some really grainy pictures that didn't conclusively show a firearm.
I've seen other pictures of 'Alleged' Weapons caches, I've seen more firearms in an NZ Drug Bust - again, a world away from what we saw in Michigan and a lightyear away from what a serious attempt to overthrow the Government would look like from the 2A Loving Republicans.

I'm not getting into a detailed argument with you. I've heard police radio comms describing people in trees with rifles. They were being watched initially what happened later I don't know.
The arms caches are accepted as fact - if not by you.
Trump attacking the driver has been confirmed by police witnesses. It's easy for someone in the back seat to attack a driver. That fact that Trump was ulttimately unsuccessful makes it even more believable. Failure is his trademark.
You haven't ever accepted that trump ia a business failure and a criminal. Most of the world has now, except for some mental defectives and some chancers who are hoping for financial gain. It might be time to reconsider you position?

Oh, so 3rd party hear-say evidence? With no supporting actual evidence? Like a Photo? Or a Video?
I ask - what is more likely:
1: That these descriptions that were heard were accurate and yet despite the intense media (both social and professional) coverage, no one managed to get a single frame of someone in a tree with a Rifle or
2: The person making the description was mistaken.
I didn't dispute their existence, I disputed the scale and the scope. Someone having a couple of shotguns and a couple of rifles in a Hotel room in America does not a 'Arms Cache to overthrow the Government' make. The pictures I saw looked more like what someone would take to a Range day vs trying to overthrow the Government.
Again, I've given you my standard of proof - The Michigan protest and you cannot even come close to meeting it.
The only witness that I've seen 'confirm' it, was repeating 3rd hand information and got several key details wrong. Which tells you just how much stock I put in their testimony.
But I mean - if you want to believe an 76 year old Man could fight off a 30 something Secret Service Agent, by all means. Kinda makes Trump sound like a bit of a Badass.
That's because he's a Billionaire and a Worldwide name - not things usually associated with Business Failure. It really is Sour Grapes when you can call a Billionaire a Business Failure - whether his worth is 2.5 Billion, 3.2 Billion, less than 1 Billion - he's still richer than probably everyone on this forum combined.
As for Criminal - when there is a successful prosecution, perhaps then you can say that.
I dunno, Biden is doing a wonderful job of proving daily just how great a President Trump was.
And time is doing an even better job of vindicating everything else.

He's a man that has a good instincts but poor (relatively) impulse control. He has a chaotic element, which I happen to enjoy - firstly because it makes life interesting, but more specifically that unpredictability keeps those who would have nefarious motives at bay.
If you know how someone is likely to react to a given situation, it makes planning your moves much easier. Consider a Chess Grandmaster who knows the combination(s) of all possible moves 5+ moves ahead.
Trump, very much so, didn't always do what was expected.
I mean there's some of his obvious Tweets - such as goading North Korea and saying his button was bigger - Is it a risky move? Sure.
His deal with the Taliban - again, lots potentially critique here - but we did have a period of no military deaths.
Then you've got when a US drone was shot down - everyone expected the US to do a retaliatory response, Trump didn't - saying that no one had died, it was just a drone - but a retaliation strike would kill people.
When it came to things like Economy, his gut instincts were spot on. When it came to calling out the prevailing Woke agenda and it's divisiveness, he was spot on.
The biggest 'black spot' if you will against Trump would be Covid, however time is increasingly showing that Lockdowns (aside from the Immorality of them) were not an appropriate response, nor was the Vaccine Mandates.
Again - he has a good gut instinct on what works and what doesn't.
Finally, the Man was never given a fair assessment by the Media. I asked, either in this thread or another, why people didn't like Trump - and many gave their answers. All of the answers could be traced back to Media hit pieces generated after he announced his run for President. Not a single point raised could be found in Media reports that pre-dated his announcement.
Some argued that with a higher level of Public Office, a higher level of scrutiny is appropriate - and there is an argument there that has some basis. However each and every time I looked into many of the claims by the Media - such as 'he told people to inject bleach' or 'Mexicans are Murders and Rapists' or 'People killed are Losers' - We find that the reality is much less sensational than the Headline and often missing several key bits of info and context.
Perhaps the best summation of Trump was from Jordan Peterson when talking about Trump vs Hilary:
"I think the spontaneous, impulsive lies of Trump are not self-evidently worse than the planned, manipulative lies of Clinton"
It's funny you say that - if you only read info from the Media, that is the impression you would get - however there have been various threads on Reddit about people who have met celebrities and what they were/are like. Trump regularly pops up in those - everyone says that he's really generous to regular people and he's polite.
You even got glimpses of what I consider to be the person behind the persona - such as when he just got off a flight and was confronted about Ruth Bader Ginsberg dying - his off-the-cuff, unprepared and almost emotional statement was IMO quite genuine.
Indeed - and the majority of sources have a demonstrable Bias against the Man - what would that potentially do for your impression?

We have high expectations of ourselves with the number 8 wire myth but when expectations meet reality we are very average on the world stage. I challenge people to read his book (who cares if it was ghost written like every other book of that genre) as it catches the essence of his success, he’s all about bringing people and deals together in a hey how do we make this work type manner along with attention to details.
Despite a bus load of allegations nothing ever materialises into successful conviction despite being in most litigious country in world.
