You were correct right up until the last sentence.

Living my life as I see fit doesn't preclude you from living yours as you see fit.

No more or no less (literally) than Biden.

The only difference being one maintained freedoms, the other didn't. It should come as no surprise which route I prefer.

It would seem the "stable genius" is going to announce something. There is a crowd in the ball room at Mar a Lago. I'm waiting to her what he has to say, but listening to the interviews with various RWNJs hangers on is painful.

On the news this morning it was reported that Murdoch has said he will not support Trump. He will support whoever runs against Trump, even a Democrat if that's what it takes. That would seem to be the end of Trump right there.

His speech is total fantasy so far. Just one brief example, "When the pandemic struck I acted decisively."

Update: He did it. He's running.

He reminds me of Andy Kaufman. Only without the underlying talent and humanity.

Hold up a second there - I must have missed an amendment to the constitution making Abortion illegal?

    Oh, there isn't one?

Now - to answer the question directly, if you are a Conservative, one of the cornerstones of conservatism is individual rights. The right to life, Liberty and property.

We know definitively that at some point a fetus is developed enough that it has acquired those rights. This was mentioned in the Dobbs decision, but unborn children have had inheritance and property rights going back to medieval times. If you do the thought experiment - take a baby 5 minutes after it was born and kill it - that's murder, yes? I'm assuming no one is going to argue with that. Take that same baby, 5 minutes before it is born and kill it - do you think that this is still murder? I personally do. I don't think the mere act of passing through the Vaginal canal or having a cesarean is what imbues those rights on the individual. And I doubt anyone here is going to strongly argue that it isn't.

So, from a conservative position, there is a point at which Abortion becomes wrong, not because of any thoughts about the rights or wrongs of the procedure but because it infringes on the individual rights of another.

Now, for my personal opinion - I conversely don't believe that a single fertilized egg has the same claim to individual rights as a fully developed Baby, 5 minutes before birth. So for my personal opinion, there is a window of time where Abortion does not infringe on Individual rights, because the zygote has yet to develop sufficiently to acquire those rights.

In that window of time, it may be 'acceptable' to get an Abortion from a rights point of view, however it should still be discouraged from a Moral, Family and individual growth point of view.

I did not want children, I've never been paternal with other peoples children - having my own changed me to become a better version of myself.

And being a better individual, having a family are all things that get social goods as far as a Conservative is concerned.

You'll note in that I never once appealed to god or any belief set, only individual rights and then stated what my personal belief is.

For an extra 2c, I think you'd find that if the Democrats kept up their end of the Compromise 'Safe, Legal and Rare', then you would probably find the Republicans in less opposition to this issue. There is always going to be the Christian Conservative opposition, but the mainstream opposition IMO has come about from the insistance that Abortion be seen as a public good or as 'Health Care' - a phrase that I believe to be grossly offensive, despite being pro-choice and maintaining that it should be available if needed.

The New York Post greeted Trump's announcement with a banner across the bottom of the front page. "Florida man makes announcement,"
Inside there was a modest item headlined, "Been there Don that.

Trump's speech was very low energy. It's almost as if he's gone off stimulants and is now hooked on tranqs. Fox cut away from his speech it was such riveting viewing.

The crowd was dwindling, to stop it becoming too embarrasing the security staff prevented people leaving. Actors is one thing, captive audiences are something else.

Fox had a discussion around which of the leading dozen or so contenders was likely to win the Republican nomination. Trump was not one of the dozen.

The scenario I'd love to see is Trump not being the GOP nomination - but running as a third party candidate.

Talk about splitting the vote. If the Gop does splinter as some are suggesting you may see others running on the Trump ticket.
    Which would make compulsive viewing.

Plus SKY TV in Britain and Australia and multiple newspapers in both countries. I see Sky News Australia is already talking Trump down.

Also the Republican Party told Trump that if he ran they would stop paying his legal bills. That probably just means in the first instance that his many lawyers have zero chance of getting paid.

Yep, the repubs gave him a free pass when he was twice impeached - the dems gave them his head on a chopping block. Now He is going to finish destroying them lol. As Husa says, he will likely form his own party and split the vote. Repubs and trump can kiss goodbye being in government again
They could of course continue eating trumps orange sausage, if they can get tdl off it that is, but the result will be the same - they run trump, they lose

Those GOP congressmen are really focused. With the multiple problems facing the US today they have immediately announced that they are going to investigate a private citizen.

Who would have guessed that the answers to gas prices, inflation, securing the border, drug abuse, terrorism, a dysfunctional political system, and a pandemic, were all to be found on Hunter Biden's laptop?
