We have a link to the Trump Go Fund Me in this thread. That has now raised about 1.25 million.

Somebody has set up a debt counter which is adding interest in real time. https://trumpdebtcounter.com

Update: Trump has filed a notice of appeal in both the E Jean Carroll defamation case and the NY fraud case. Neither was accompanied by the required bond for the full amount awarded against him.

Trump has thirty days in each case to stump up the cash either in settlement or as a bond for his appeal. The timing is tight in the EJC case because that's only days away from her lawyer being able to request a list of Trump's assets that she can liquidate to realse the near ninety million cash.

Officials involved in Trump's New York fraud trial are receiving envelopes containing white powder. Donald Trump Jr is jealous he has to pay for his.

To appeal the finding in his New York fraud case Trump was required to post a bond for the entire amount of the fine, plus interest. The sum approaching half a billion dollars is required to be paid if an appeal is filed, failing which the Attorney General could start liquidating his assets after thirty days from the date of the verdict.

He has filed a notice of intention to appeal with a request that the court halt proceedings and accept his offer of $100,000, 000instead of the near $500,000. The court declined his offer.

Supreme court is going to hear trumps presidential immunity claim. With any sort of luck they will find Presidents (current but not former) DO have immunity, so Biden can send Seal team 6 or whoever to take care of the trump crime family. Sorted.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

On the off chance anyone hereabout wants to understand the nature of Trump's current financial situation and you have a lazy twenty minutes or so.
This guy is a lawyer who practices in New York and in Florida and he knows how it works. There is an ad in the middle but you can just scroll past that.

Almost as if specially to piss Trump off. Nikki Haley beat him in the Washington DC Republican primary - and it wasn't close. She got all the delegates.

not a great day for the orange-etan
Court denies Donald Trump's bid to pause $454m penalty in civil fraud Donald Trump must post a bond to cover the full $454m penalty while he appeals against the judgment in his New York civil fraud trial, a court has ruled.
The penalty will keep accruing interest by at least $112,000 per day if he refuses to pay.

Ms James had asked the appeals court to deny Mr Trump's request.

"There is no merit to defendants' contention that a full bond or deposit is unnecessary because they are willing to post a partial undertaking of less than a quarter of the judgment amount," the attorney general's office said in a filing.

"Defendants all but concede that Mr Trump has insufficient liquid assets to satisfy the judgment: defendants would need 'to raise capital' to do so. These are precisely the circumstances for which a full bond or deposit is necessary."

Last week, Ms James told ABC News: "If he does not have funds to pay off the judgment, then we will seek judgment enforcement mechanisms in court, and we will ask the judge to seize his assets."

Oh this is gonna hurt for some

In a democracy the Court of Public Opinion is (still) the highest court
Donald Trump’s name can stay on the ballots.

    US Flag, Flying.
It’s one of those rare moments in 2024 when something makes sense. All nine justices of the US Supreme Court have decided that the largest jury in the world should be allowed to judge for themselves who they want to have as President.

The Colorado Supreme Court had decided that Donald Trump was too naughty for people to vote for, even though he hadn’t been charged or convicted of leading an insurrection of horned people (or any one else) to overthrow the US government. The votes of a few state officials would therefore overrule the votes of millions potentially. And the whole idea of being innocent until proven guilty was tossed out the window.

The Court of Public Opinion is the only one that matters in a democracy. If there was free speech and a free media, crimes will be investigated, and the evidence put on display

You worded that appropriately. It is a very childlike point of view.

Despite your previously having difficulty with legal writing, here is Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution, the disqualification clause:

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

If you read that carefully you will note that it mentions neither charge nor conviction. Nor did Trump have to lead an insurrection, that he simply "engaged in" is sufficient.
