Security would probably have been even worse if Trump was president. Some years back then President Obama visited Marc Maron at his house to appear on the WTF podcast. At first Maron's neighbours were excited at the news. Days prior to the interview the SS started checking everybody in and out of the street. By the time Obama actually arrived the novelty had worn off. The SS erected a tent from the street to Maron's door so that the VIP visitor would not be visible to any would be assassin as he walked from the car to the house. There were the usual snipers etc but that tent particularly impressed me.

Decades ago now there was a brutal rape and murder in Central Park. Five black kids were arrested. They were denied lawyers or family, were brow beaten and possibly beaten until they confessed. Trump took out a full page ad in the NY Times demanding their execution. They received long jail sentences but decades later were released and paid millions. During his debate with Harris Trump decided to dredge this up again. He has now received a letter from lawyers representing the five that they are initiating defamation action.

Yep, my long time mate from the USA is a trump voter, I deliberately do not talk trump, but the other day he did a bit of a rant on saying the evil dems had stopped hurricane aid ala despicable trump lie. There is heaps of videos showing gop governors praising the gubberment response. I asked my mate if he he knew that trump LIE (tdl will characterize as an exaggeration ) had been debunked? To which he replied "Dunno, I just believe what the media tells me". And there it is in a nutshell as to how the trump cult exists with seemingly smart people getting sucked in. Here is the thing from the pro-Trump side, nearly everything you have said in your rebuttal has context.

You say he is a convicted Criminal - I say they had to massively overeach a misdemenor to a felony and the charges were... laughable.
You say he is a serial liar - I have expanded on this numerous times, most of what are regarded as Trump lies are not - and the rest that are - are well within the bounds of any normal politician.
You say he is a promise breaker - Again, Politician. And the key promises that I care about, he seems to have kept.
You say he is a proven sexual offender - I say civil cases have a lower standard of proof, Groupies exist and curiously these allegations didnt come out until it was politically conveiniant.

Now - you are probably rolling your eyes and muttering about brainwashed this and that - but let me share with you something sincere - If the mainstream media was to release a story about Trump tomorrow, my first inclination is that it would either be a Lie or would be extremely selective with the Truth.

I can cite a dozen different examples off the top of my head where this has occurred. The most recent exchange in this thread about a Boat that was accepted as part of the rally (it was actively chased off) and that there was no denouncement (there was multiple denouncements) is one such example.

Call it confirmation bias if you like - but my first instinct when I read a negative story is to go off and find what actually happened and what they are lying about - and 99 times out of a 100 - I find the same tactics of omitting certain facts, lying, deceptive editorializing.

As just one example - with the whole working at McDonalds thing - Trump says Kamala never worked at McDonalds - the Headline will loudly proclaim something about Trump lying.... Then half-way through the article concede that McDonalds have said they dont have any evidence of her working there and in a copy of her Resume from the 80s she does not list McDonalds as work experience. Does that mean Kamala didnt work at McDonalds - maybe, maybe not - but to call it as a lie, when at the very least there is sufficient evidence to cast doubt on Kamalas claim is dishonest.

I am loathe to use this term - TDS - but the simple fact is that there are an entire cohort of Media that used to love Trump and the minute he ran for President turned on him and portrayed him out to be the next Dictator. Believe it or not that may be the least corrupt thing Cannon has done. If she had dismissed the case once the trial was underway that would have been final. The Justice Department could not appeal because of the double jeopardy laws. Because the trial had not started the Justice Department can appeal. Of course it may go all the way to the Supreme Court which may, or may not, still be corrupt depending on the outcome of the election.
