I saw it at the time but didn't take notice. Trump went walkabout again. If it was Biden the press would be trumpeting it from the tree tops. At the end of his speech Trump wandered off past the desk with executive orders on it awaiting his signature. Not for the first time a staff member had to stop him and redirect him back to where he was supposed to be. He didn't even know where he was.

Trump's "reciprocal tariffs" are not reciprocal tariffs at all. That's just another Trump lie.

    https://edition.cnn.com/2025/04/03/e...irc_end_recirc

Interestingly the president does not normally have the power to introduce tariffs. So it seems Trump signed two executive orders. The first declared an emergency which then, in theory, gave him the power to create the tariffs.

It's not impossible that Congress could yet stall the tariffs. It depends on how concerned Republicans are at the possibility of losing their seats because of the impending recession.

Comrade Krasnov strikes again? Here is the full list of Trump's tariffs. There seems to be one country missing. It's difficult, there's a lot of countries including one or two I've never heard of, and it's not in alphabetical order. If you can find Russia please let me know.

One analyst has said the crash may be deliberate. During times of market stress funds seek the safety of US govt bonds. The amount of money flowing into bonds right now is apparently forcing the rates down. The govt uses bonds to repay debt and right now the govt is getting a 10% discount on that tool which ads up quite nicely for them.

Anyone who’s losing money right now including myself is only there due to a lack of risk management. We all knew this volatility was coming. Once the dust settles it will be like a briscoes 50-60% of everything sale and the cycle begins again.

Funny how people hate on billionaires then hate on the man who who slashes their profit margins….

One Battery to rule them all, One Battery to find them, One battery to power them all and in the Darkness, Bind them.

    So - this was unexpected.

And to be honest - I am conflicted.

On the one hand - Libertarian me says Get Government out of Private industry.

On the other hand, Pragmatic me says that a standard form factor would be a really bloody useful thing, like standard battery sizes, Thread types pitches etc.

This doesn't appear to have received much coverage but it's out there. When Trump was flown by helicopter to Walter Reed Hospital with breathing difficulties arising from COVID a Dr Peter Stein administered the latest in anti viral medication potentially saving Trump's life.

Dr Stein has now been dismissed from his position as part of the DOGE campaign against waste, fraud, and abuse.

There was a UK video on this a year ago as a new EU standard being introduced, coincidentally also on April 1st I hadn't realised that when I told the Milwaukee rep about it a couple of days after seeing it

"If you can make black marks on a straight from the time you turn out of a corner until the braking point of the next turn, then you have enough power."

Somewhat interesting goings on in the US - of course. As time passes there seems to be a lengthening list of people who were shipped to prison in El Salvador in error.
One was a refugee with court ordered protected status. The Judge told the government to fix it. The government replied thatt it couldn't. The judge said they have until 11.59PM Monday.

While I admire the judge's optimism I can't help feeling this will not end well for the prisoner.
