Literally at the eleventh hour Trump's lawyers filed a motion to indefinitely delay the documents case until after the election. The plan is presumably that Trump having won the election he can then instruct the DoJ to drop the case.

People have been wondering what unusual moves Trump's pet judge Aileen Cannon would make to protect Trump. She is beginning to answer the questions. The case was prosecuted in the southern district of Florida because of "venue". That's where the documents were held illegally. That as opposed to holding the trial in DC, the place the documents were removed from. In the light of that it is interesting that the judge has just moved the trial to a different part of Florida. A part of Florida where the majority of people are Trump voters.

We await the DoJ response to these developments..

Hot off the press. The Justice Dept has withdrawn its support of Trump in the remaining E Jean Carrol case.

Because Trump was president at the time of the original case he had claimed that if he had committed slander against Ms Carroll it had been in the course of his duties as president. His AG, Bill Barr, had instructed the DoJ to defend the case on that basis. Now that the DoJ has withdrawn, Trump loses any immunity he had as president and the ongoing case is entirely at his expense.

I would be very surprised if PAC donations are not subject to Tax when they are diverted from campaigning costs and are, instead, used for "personal expenses" (such as in Civil court cases, settlements and appeals). (Perhaps I need to ask George Santos how that works)

Hopefully all these transactions are properly declared and submitted to IRS, as required.

Trump may have let slip some interesting information. In one of his angry "Truths" he bemoaned his current situation but included a comment that Biden had not been charged under the Insurrection Act. That message was taken down and replaced by another which replaced Insurrection Act with Espionage Act.

Somebody commented on Twitter that it was unwise to post on social media with your target letter from The FBI open on the desk.

Whatever, it does seem to raise the possibility that Trump is to face charges under the Insurrection Act. If found guilty he would be banned from running for any public office.

They are being too nice to Trump, he should at least be under house arrest. Reality Winner who leaked one document confirming Russian interference in the 2016 election was locked up immediately there was enough evidence and not released until near the end of her five year sentence. Teixeira the Air Guardsman who leaked secret documents online was arrested by armed presonnel in full tactical kit and taken away in an armoured personnel carrier and remains incarcerated awaiting trial. Trump, who is suspected of far worse, is still free to fly around spreading his dangerous lunacy.

It is being reported on Twitter that Trump has indeed received a target letter from the FBI relating to his Jan 6 coup attempt. The charges would be heard in Federal Court in DC.

The first charges have been brought against Trump's fake electors. The first two minutes or so of this is the announcement by the Michigan Attorney General but what follows is also interesting. It shows the fake electors trying to present their forged documents. It's not only dumb kids who film themselves committing crimes.

Donald Trump was hit with new criminal charges in addition to the ones he already faced related to his retaining classified documents at his Florida residence after leaving the White House.
Trump is accused in a new superseding indictment with his valet, Walt Nauta, of an attempt to delete video surveillance footage at his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida during the summer of 2022.
A third defendant, Mar-a-Lago maintenance chief Carlos de Oliveira, was added to the case in federal court.
Donald Trump was hit with new criminal charges in addition to the ones he already faced related to his retaining classified documents at his Florida residence after leaving the White House.
Trump is accused in a new superseding indictment with his valet, Walt Nauta, of an attempt to delete video surveillance footage at his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida during the summer of 2022.
A third defendant, Mar-a-Lago maintenance chief Carlos de Oliveira, was added to the case in federal court.
The new charges against Trump include an additional count of willful retention of national defense information and two new counts of obstruction against both him and Nauta.

With the new charges, Trump now faces 40 criminal counts in the case, which was first lodged in early June by Department of Justice special counsel Jack Smith.
De Oliveira, 56, was charged Thursday with conspiracy to obstruct justice, altering destroying, mutilating a document, and false statements.

The false statements charge relates to the voluntary interview De Oliveira gave FBI agents in January.
