I won’t mention the name of the company, but they go on strike and you say, ‘That’s okay. You’re all gone. You’re all gone. So every one of you is gone.’ And you are the greatest. You would be very good.”

It’s actually illegal to fire people for striking or even threatening to strike.

He’s told several recent rallies that “I know a lot about overtime. I’ve hated to give overtime. I hated i. I get other people — I shouldn’t say this, but I’d get other people in. I wouldn’t pay.”

He’s previously called for ending the minimum wage. And opposes raising the current minimum, which hasn’t changed since 2009.

And yet those dirt poor Republicans think he’s on their side.

Why? The best explanation I ever heard was “He hates the same people we do.” And that gives them permission to ignore the fact he would be terrible for them economically.

I’m sure someone will comment that he gave low-income workers a tax break. He did. With a sunset clause. The cuts for businesses and the rich go on forever, but the cuts for everyone else — which accounted for just 17% of the total — expire in 2025, when trump expected to be finishing a 2nd term.

He gave low-income people a bribe, paid for with taxpayer money, to buy their votes.

This time he’s not even offering the bribe.
    Interesting points.

I have tried to find the full, unedited clips for the various quotes (as often context is conveniently omitted) - but I have not (that usually makes me suspicious)

Being against Unions and strikes - I mean - Margaret Thatcher comes to mind - anyone going to argue she wasnt espousing Conservative Values...

However, on Overtime - I have to weigh that comment against a policy to not tax overtime - Suffice to say I give more credence to the policy than the comment.

    Minimum wage.

This one is interesting. It depends on what you conceptualize the Minimum wage as. There is the current Left-Wing argument that Minimum Wage should be a Living wage - whereby a person can earn it and afford to own a house, a car and support a family.

I do not subscribe to that theory.

Now, if you consider to be the Minimum wage to be something that entry level positions that require little to no training or specialist skills (Pizza Delivery driver for example) and is typically done by spotty-faced teenagers as their first job - then the Minimum wage is fine.

I am more in that camp than the former. I also happen to agree that a Minimum wage prices certain jobs out of the market (that is, they do not provide sufficient value to justify their existence).

That is the Philosophical part, now is the practical part:

You have two groups - both make different promises as to how their ideas will make your life better.

Both attempt their ideas - One group increases your standard of living, the other massively increases inflation. But let us go one step further - let us assume that Trump didn't increase anyones standard of living, lets say it was neutral or even a little bit worse....

Compared to Bidenomics and what that caused - it is a no brainer NOT to vote for the Democrats - as their ideas objectively do not work and do not generate the promised outcomes.

Trump said last time that if he lost we'd never hear from him again. I wish...

Meanwhile there's ongoing idiocy from the Republicans and don't be confused. This has nothing to do with Trump lies about FEMA having no funds.

Because the strorms are demonstrably becoming more frequent and more dangerous because of higher ocean temperatures the Democrats in Congress considered it prudent to increase funding to FEMA the civil defence agency. The Republicans almost unanimously voted against it. It is majority Republican states that are normally worst hit. Having the best interests of their voters at heart was never a strong point of the Republicans but really?

Trump did say one thing that rang true, though: “Our biggest threat to democracy is stupid people.”

A good friend is state side on holiday with his wife. They're in Alabama currently visiting places like Barber Motorsport Museum. He saw on the highway a motorcyclist with a patch that stated he was a 'Sons of Trump - MAGA Chapter'. I laughed and he linked this. Get your order in now before it's too late!

TNR (the new republic) had a comment where trump has not yet actually stated that he is running for the presidency. Apparently when he does, at that point all money donated MUST be assigned to the election campaign. So up to that pint, anything received for trump shoes, bibles, watches, etc goes into his personal accounts rather than to the election. Expect any donations wrt to the hurricanes will not end up with the victims.

That's correct in that Trump has not filed the paperwork. Once he does file all donations to his campaign must be declared. Meantime he can be accepting donations from whoever and the money can stay dark. That's not unique, George W Bush delayed filing too.

Trump gave a speech at Coachella. There were twenty coaches ferrying people from the car parking to the venue and after the speech three to take them back. Too far for the elderly to walk and no toilets accessible. And these clowns want to run the country? At least that'd stop the punters leaving early.
