“Ultimate Biker” title awarded

Andy Carlile, Sports Officer at the MCI has won the Dunlop ‘Ultimate Biker’ Championship. Just 24 out of 2000 applicants were selected to take part in the challenge, consisting of trials, motocross, supermoto and road racing elements, plus a “moto-pentathlon” to test fitness.

Andy Carlile commented, “Competing with so many top riders in all of these different disciplines has been a fantastic experience and to have won the Ultimate Biker title is amazing.”

Excelent! Still,you'd expect the versatility of the Supermoto riders to shine in a multi disaplin test.I wonder who was given the opportunaty to compete...or who was interested for that matter.

An enduro rider like Steffan Merriman who started in trials should be able to hold a good points advantage until the road tests.Carmicheal has been seen lately on a trials bike - how would the great RC do in this,was he offered? was he interested?

"Supermoto ace Christian Iddon beat a host of world and British motorcycle stars to win the coveted Moto 1 event at Mallory Park. The World and British Supermoto Championship frontrunner maintained consistent leaderboard positions across all five disciplines to beat the UK’s top motocrosser, Billy MacKenzie into second place, with off road all rounder Ady Smith taking the final spot on the podium."

"A new discipline for 2005 was Moto Pentathlon. A five stance competition that saw the riders sent off in pairs to tackle a quad course, a sidecar trials course, control of a mini digger where they had to place three tyres into an oil drum, a lap on a mini motocrosser, and a sprint to the finish on a 200 metre down hill mountain bike track. Both the riders and the fans thoroughly enjoyed this addition to Moto 1 which saw supermoto star and former British Championship motocrosser Matt Winstanley take maximum points. Braybrook once again showed his all round off road skills by claiming second just ahead of the hard working MacKenzie. Iddon was fifth, but Smith struggled to get to grips with some of the stances and could only add 12 points to his tally."
