The Napier-Wairoa Rd north of Bayview, is a great blasting road, in good nick, usually nicely camberex. Ride normally and have fun. Tiniroto Rd required full concentration, not helped by lots of shadows from trees. Slow down and enjoy the ride. From memory, I enjoyed the main road past Mahia. Given that there are plenty of great roads out here, I wouldn't consider Tiniroto to be a must-do.
I then had a detour around Tolaga Bay due to a truvk crash closing the main road. Paroa Rd was in better condition than Tiniroto Rd.

It was a bloody good ride though there in February when I did the TT2000. It's a bit of road that I definitely hope to do again sometime soon.

Near the start of Tiniroto Rd.
Having breakfast at Omaio and enjoying the fantastic roads. The road to East Cape was generally good, but one section had fresh river gravel (like marbles). Will post a trip report when back home.

If you ride the Napier Wairoa road then you can say you have ridden over the Devil’s elbow.
It is quite a hill... once saw some poor bugger doing it on a push bike.
