Would Repco LP1 multipurpose lubricant be alright for a motorcycle chain?

If it's the stuff I'm thinking of, then no. It's like CRC but slightly oilier. I use it instead of crc to loosen me nuts and stop hinges squeaking.

I suspect it would break down the grease in an o-ring chain and probably evaporate due to heat.

If you're looking for a cheap chain oil use EP90 or chainsaw chain bar oil. Thick and tacky. Wipe off excess to avoid spooge flingage.
    Manopausal.

Even gear oil would be better.

I've used this with good results (i.e. minimal mess).
