Not everyone will have realised that BTC was (one of) the support classes at the recent MotoGP British GP at Silverstone.
Cormac Racing was there, raring to go, albeit with a still sore/broken wrist bone.
Everything went really well, until the final race, but will get to that.
It is a long circuit, so the BTC kids were doing around 2m 22s laps, so about 142s. Moto3 best times were 2m10s (130s) by Fenati. So, BTC times were not too shabby all things considered.
FP1 and FP2 went well, not hiccups or anything and laptimes were in the ballpark.
QP arrived late on Friday and Cormac slammed in a time for P4 on the grid. He said he was laying down a better lap near the end of the session, but other riders got in the way and he was unable to improve.
Saturday race day and the track was cool, but probably among the best conditions of the day for the race, late in the afternoon.
Two riders (team mate O'Gorman and (similar size to Cormac) Lyons managed to drop straight into the rhythm and gap the second group. This group was lead from time to time by Cormac, 3rd to 9th.
Lap 1 one of the championship front runners (Garness) binned it by trying too hard (rider OK) then about mid race distance two more (Crosby, Cook) fell down together, right in front of Cormac.
Thankfully he avoided and did not lose time to the group.
Last lap he started in front of the group (or near it), but for one reason or another, come the last corner he was shuffled to the back and came home in 7th, with 0.4+ seconds covering 3rd to 7th.
So, overall, a good race, but still disappointing to not be able to find that little bit extra to nail the better finish.
Lyons got the better of O'Gorman in the end.
Race 2, Sunday arvo. Again, great conditions.
Similar scenario, Lyons and O'Gorman dropped into good pace and gapped the next group of 3rd to 10th.
Again, Cormac was in amongst it for almost all of the race, until 2-3 laps from the end.
He was going for a move under brakes when several riders suddenly moved over right in front of him and he grabbed too much brake, closed the front and went down in a screaming heap.
Well, not too much screaming, but a fair amount of swearing, no doubt.
He was physically fine, no more damage to the arm, but really disappointed at not being able to get the result we all know he is capable.
We have had a good debrief and both he and I have identified that he is not riding the bike the way he wants to, the way we developed and the way he can. His confidence has be eroded a bit and he has gone into his shell a bit.
So, this weekend at Snetterton 300, now that this has been identified, I have provided him with some tools that will, hopefully, reinvigorate his approach and contribute to achieving the success we all seek for him.
This is the FIRST weekend of racing since May 2021 where he will be returning to a circuit he has ridden at previously (well, except for the MotoGP double header at Austria).
He has not raced Snet before, but that was where BTC started with a weekend of testing. Testing it was, with the first day being fine but cold, the final two days being bloody winter!!! So, not too much was gained, other than a couple of crashes (if I had been there he would not have gone out, that is for sure). The weather forecast for Snet for the whole weekend is excellent, warm and cloudy. So let's hope that holds up.
So, fingers crossed we will see an improved performance for Cormac, who knows, maybe that race win.
Next weekend is MotoGP Aragon, the final round of Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup. So, fingers crossed for good weather there and that his wrist has healed sufficiently to not hurt so much.
If he can rectify his riding style and attack Aragon, then who knows how that will go. Most of the kids in Rookies Cup have raced there many times, so will know their way around, so he will be up against it, again.
But he is tough and good to go.
Righto.

I watched both Talent Cup races and was gutted for him losing places at the end of race 1. A good weekend though and hoping for good things next time out.

Arbolino in.
Who is out?
Neither rider deserves to be, but now that I think about it, there was talk of FER A going to Red Bull Ajo, yeah?

If it weren't for flashbacks...I'd have no memory at all..
Yeah. The other day got mine out for the wash, battery charge, and ride around the house treatment. It needed the wash, the battery charge not quite so much.
One concern, I'm having trouble getting my new knee over the seat. I'll have to practice that - or use the left peg. Just as well it's not a Ducati.
Meanwhile back on topic, I see McPhee is riding in Moto2 for Petronas next time out while Dixon rides MotoGP.

At least Petronas are giving their riders a chance to show what they can do in another level. My wife wondered if McPhee will be bringing his Moto3 handbag or getting a new one.

Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.
MV times are up there with his normal, and he's saying he feels really confortable, and a top 10 isnt out of the question... hmm

Will be interesting to see how it all goes. Who knows, he may, at last, have found the team and bike he needs. A happy Vinales is a fast Vinales.

MV has the ulimate speed he won on the Suzuki remember just that stars must align.I reckon he will outperform Aleix again overall but he is not consistent enough to win a championship at the highest(read motogp) level.Maybe moto 3 and moto 2 ,but i think we all know the motgp is the real deal. They are ALL insanely talented

Acosta #37 and Fernandez #37 signed to ride for Ajo Motorsports Moto2 in 2022.
Anyone see a small problem??
Solution: fight out the back of the garage?

Aussie Joel Kelso has signed for CIP Green Power team Moto3 for 2022. Joel is your typical Aussie battler. Really put in the hard yards. No silver spoon there, that is for sure. Good on him.
