real sad to see another youngster killed ... on a couple of occasions i've watched junior motocross and thought it doesn't seem right to have little kids flying through the air so far/high knowing if they crash on landing there's a good chance of them getting skittled. on a brighter note it's only a week and we are back in business with Crutchlow confirmed back on deck. I have a feeling he's sadly going to be well smoked on these next couple of circuits. counting down ...

Hey Jimmy. Mat Oxley wrote a good piece on that point.

We've all probably been run over which isn't pretty, but being hit at much higher speed and possibly while a bit upright, well that's the end.

I hit Ziffle in the back but exiting an Ohakea hairpin so real slow. (On full over the handlebars brakes) . On a GP track that might have been different.

Having a Prince as head of a major sponsor might come with disadvantages? And in this particular case they can come with bone saws.

Yep, apparently his career has "been most funning" heh. Sad to see a legend go, but he was flogging a dead horse.

I also think he wanted to get out before he was forced to ride for his own team.

Rossi a great career and a great love of the sport.
He was very sad when he announced it by the looks.

I don't see the reason why you have to retire from a sport at the top????
You climb up through the ranks. Then when age makes self preservation more of an issue in your brain you slide back down and out.
    No shame in that

Secondly I think him going on an extra year or so has made the hole smaller when he leaves. Best thing for the sports future with the new young guns taking over the podium.

Great career nothing to be ashamed of. Treat the rest of the season as a celebration I reckon.
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '

His new team is to be sponsored by the Saudi oil company. The person he is dealing with is a Saudi prince who has said he wants Rossi to ride. It seems Rossi may have talked him oiut of that.

Yeah, that was what I was referring too... I feel like he said to himself... "if I cant win... I might end up in pieces... I better retire"

Was a big fan (well still am), he loves his bike racing and what a time he's had ?

I'll never forget my trips every year to Mugello , very special , just like #46.

You'd never go hungry with Nigella Gaz.
If it weren't for flashbacks...I'd have no memory at all..

When you walk away from a professional ride you will never ever get to ride the most amazing bikes on the planet ever again.

. . . Well, unless you were say a team owner and could cage a go in test season. . .

Or maybe if you were the most popular rider ever and people would arrange guest appearance at any festival you sneezed towards.

In my view you keep going as long as you're still enjoying it.

In other news, with NZ connections, Horst Saiger has announced his retirement too.
Slow healing broken bits haven't helped.

A decidedly subdued reaction to an outstanding result? Are y'all suffering sports overlaod following the Olympics?

    What's an Olympics?

Sorry flat out working for once.

    Autechs thoughts:

Pedrosa - Awesome to see my dawg out again. Scary crash which he shrugged off relatively fast, proof a racer is always a racer. Shame he's not racing the 2nd race as I suspect he could put all Hondas behind him given another crack. He beat his old seat at least, good shit.

    Maverick - no comment...

Martin - proof that its easier to teach a fast rider to stop crashing than a slow rider to be fast, he was loose as in moto3 till he cracked the code. Riding that Duke bloody well.

Miller - for farks sake. He looked to be entering the corner faster than Fabio ahead of him, never going to stick on a Ducati.

    Maverick - no comment...

Marquez - dick move on Aleix race 1, how are the moto3 guys going to cool it if the so called greatest rider of all time can barge someone out of his way willy nilly?
Looks like he's over riding it big time right now

    Maverick - still no comment....

Binder - the biggest Sunday man ever, that guy can turn it on, his last lap was incredible. He needs to turn it on Saturday though else he'll never factor in for wins.

Mir - that squatting device is the ticket, once they dial in the electronics and aero to match it we'll be seeing him even more competitive, the other factories must be sweating.

Maverick - alright I'll bite, I I wonder how long he can keep spouting shit about the bike before one of his mechanics clocks him one?
