    Which Laws Can't You Break?

    The laws of physics.

Just putting it out there, inviting anyone who cares to disagree.

There was an Australian politician a year or so back made a statement to the effect that the only laws that matter in Australia are the laws of Australia.

That prompted people to remind him of the laws of physics among others.

The laws of physics are dictated by what we can see and measure. Lots of stuff we can't see, so can't measure.

For example. I serviced my bike a few months ago. Filter, oil, all the usual gubbins. Ran the bike and topped up the oil level to fill an empty filter, perfick. Took it for a short jaunt and checked again, perfick.

Some time later, after re-charging the battery, I pulled the bike out of the shed to start it up, but not until I checked the window of mystery. Lo! The window was empty, transparent, no oil to be seen. Where has it gone?

Nothing on the ermine rug on which the bike resides, the shed is alarmed and guarded by spiders which ensure the alarm is working, so nobody has been siphoning 10w30. Checked the battery, no oil in it.. Spiders are no bigger, it hasn't been particularly hot, the bike does not appear to have expanded, I'm flummoxed.

    Please explain.

...which laws are we talking about here rastus...

...there are irrefutable laws that govern things and then there are edicts that some wanks make up...

...some of the made up laws are well balanced and are there to make things sa...ahem... then there are the made up laws that are purely edicts from on high that pave the way for those that make the said laws up...

...then we get onto the bunch of humans in blue who interpret the law as they think seems fit, which leads into those ticks who for great amounts of recompense can interpret the laws differently...

...fuck your made up laws ...

Some time back when I was regularly running race meetings at Rootypuna for what was then the largest club in Canty, a certain committee menber started approaching me carrying a copy of the FIM regs...

His rationale was that this organisation was the superior god and we should all bow down before their superior knowledge and laws...

I told him that the only god whose rules I was prepared to obey was the unique Aotearoan deity - MNZ. All other were false gods and their laws were ungodly.

I further told him that if I saw that copy of the FIM regs again at the track, it was going where the sun didn't shine as an offering to his god.

... I'm sure there is a fair amount of physics involved in the outcome...

I was just reading an article about 'operation physics'. It made me think of this thread.

I tried and failed to break (well bend) the law of gravity on my mountainbike earlier this year. It did not go well for me.

You only have to watch a boxing match to see the third law is disputable.
Mind you a lot of laws are

“In the third law, when two objects interact, they apply forces to each other of equal magnitude and opposite direction.”

Mankind is still an infant in its knowledge of the world. Just a short time ago the holy bibley was the single source of truth now it’s Jacinda adern...
The laws of physics are based on current knowledge, they could be amended at a future date if science/god/Jacinda/bob from accounting/fakebook or some other entity decides...

Already we have the climate evangelists totally ignoring the latent heat of evaporation with regard to sea levels and glaciers....
