What is the best way to remove oil and petrol staining from concrete? Damned 2Strokes

I've tried a lot of different products and procedures but nothing really helps. Youtube hasn't helped as the videos refer to products not available in NZ. I would like the product to be environmentally friendly as well if possible. Can you help?

I used to think my various ancient relics were drive way staining devils until a 17 year old grandson moved in with an 80;s jap station wagon.... gah... Who knew radiator leaks could be so damaging

I always liked kerosene as a degreaser. Brush on, hose off

Kero does the trick. Allow to soak. Hose off.

Spray some detergent on and hose off again.

If that doesn't shift it, your driveway now has "character"

A friend called over with his chainsaw to deal to a big tree that had fallen over in our backyard. In the process of filling it with bar oil, whoops !
[ Note to self: Don't do that over the concrete in the first place ]

That CRC Oil Eater does a reasonable job at cleaning up oil from old porous concrete. About as good as shown in the photos of the first post on this thread. Left a white ring at the outer edge, which disappeared over time (and a little sweeping with water and a stiff garden broom).

    In decreasing order of effectiveness:
    • Dynamite
    • Pneumatic hammer
    • Kango hammer
    • Concrete skim/overcoat
    • Concrete polisher
    • Solvents
    • Detergents
    • Power washer
    • Concrete coating
    • Concrete paint/stain
    • Time
    • Shiny bikes parked nearby, glinting in the sun, rumbling seductively
