Sadly on the first part, you are right - and I think this is one of the key failing of Modern Politics - that the Electorate expect the Government to solve their problems.

However, in this case, I think it's the timing that's the issue Stalinda has just yanked the rug out of everyone for a few cases of the Sniffles. And yes, I am referring to Omicron as the Sniffles.

A Decision that she's coped a rightly deserved bunch of Flak for, even internationally.

So what does she do?

Does she try to speed up the bringing of Kiwis home by adjusting MIQ (since it's failed in it's purpose)?
Does she repeal Mask and Vaccine mandates (since they are clearly inneffective against Omicron as the vector was an Air NZ flight attendant)?
Does she do anything to address the Multitude of unintended consequences of her Authoritarian Policies?

Russia won’t invade anyway. There troops on border are like patched gang members sitting in a car in street while the prospects go do dirty work and collect debts.

What a Non event zero drama incident.... All that happened here was unjustified dangerous driving (nothing new to Labour Party prime ministers there) passing on the inside and driving on footpath by the PMs driver.
The core issue here is exceptionally poor location management by one would assume DPS and Police. What kind of Nicky mouse operation lets a protected asset be placed in a traffic choke point like that.
If you look closely the PMs wagon is in a parking/drop off frontage type area in front of some establishment and the “offenders” car is out on the proper roadway. They stop in front of the pms car and mouth off in feral fashion but not that loudly to be honest.
If this is “cutting someone off” the poor buggers manning *555 are going to be busy for years to come.
“Police are investigating” but will be lucky to make more than a $150 inconsiderate driving charge stick. The “ offender” stops on road (you could have a number of legitimate excuses for that) and it appears a passenger is doing filming and mouthing off. So unless they were foolish enough to brag online in advance and “planned it” then it’s a big nothing legally.
Despite the PM being a protected individual that could be a target the circumstances did NOT warrant driving on footpath in crowded urban area.

The two UK articles I read both claimed we were in lockdown. It seems they guessed what “red” meant rather than checking. If the people you are quoting used the word ‘zealot’ they are even more stupid than the two I read.

Actually, slight correction - the phrase they used was 'Matyring herself and her country for a failed Covid Strategy' and pointing out:

"Despite a high vaccination rate — 93% of people aged over 12 years — and the arrival of a milder strain, restrictions are only getting harsher."

Again, no mention of Lockdown, but an entirely factual series of Statements.

I get that but it obviously wasn’t deemed a “ genuine threat” by the security detail. Police only investigating after the video surfaced embarrassing the PM.
The security detail obviously assumed they were just loud mouth ferals otherwise a back up security car or police would have immediately pounced an executed an armed vehicle stop on the “threat”.
