FOR SALE: Sapphire - the she devil of the ZX4R's

Just listing like this to see if there is any interest.

    Basic Spec:
Genuine 89' ZXR 400 SP (not just the H model - most of the claimed SP are just the H model)....which has....
    - Completely adjustable Up-side-down forks
    - SP spec motor (+5HP over standard)
    - In standard form these are good for 50bhp on the dyno (ask red barron).....but mine isnt just standard.....

    Modded Spec:
    - Motor has been completely derestricted, speed, carbs, ignition....everything
    - Laser Exhaust system off a ZX9R
    - Carbs flowed for new exhuast and jets changed
    - Later spec (92?) SP rear shock (green) and swingarm
    - Polished Frame
    - Iridium plugs
    - High Flow air filter
    - Race spec clutch plates

This bike has to be heard, to be believed.
On the open road sits quite happily in 6th (cos it has enough torque), and does 30-210+ (never have maxed it out yet) in that gear.

Will also include some spare parts i have lying around.

    Colour : Mettalic Blue
    WOF : 5 months
    REG : YES
    K's : 50,000

Feel free to ask questions - will send a pic if requested (just probing the market right now). Im happy to send photos (tell me what you want), but be warned as my camera is 5MP so the pictures are a little on the huge side - but that means you can see more detail.

Also comes with a manual on CD.

Not the flashest condition, but still looks ok and rides even better. But it is an 89, not the 90 model of same shape

Dont mind if it doesnt sell - as its too good a toy to give away.

Will trade for another big bike, streetfighter! , ????
Will also consider a trade for a good single and some cash (GB?)
May also consider a part trade for a computer/laptop...tell me what youve got and ill tell what ill take off the price for ya.

Tyres are prob going to need replacing in the comming 1000 or so k's
While i have never dropped her, when i repainted the fairings (i coundnt decide on a colour for the tank), i noticed that they were plastic welded - but i have severly undercoated and sanded, undercoated and sanded...... 5 times to get a reasonably smooth finish for the top coat. Also there is a ding in the tank - so one of i imgaine she got the better of one of the preious owners somewhere in her history.
Too be honest any aesthetic imperfections become irrelevent when you ride her, she barks like a hell hound and charges like sledgehammer.
Really good performer - hense if she doesnt sell i keep her.

Hey avgas---just to be sure--this is the SP with flat slides or CV carbs??

Hmmm good question frosty, to be honest i think that it actually has CVK's....will check for you (wot was the serial/code for the flatside carbs?).
To be honest this is the first bike i havent stripped to find out anything about it - as i got it with all the work done.
Was there anything else that was different with the motor on the SP's to the H? Because my friend used to have an H model (same year, with less k's then mine and his had just been serviced etc), and his bike seemed really gutless.
This feels a bit more close to a 80's/90's 600, for torque and power.

Had a quick look and all i can read is Kehin (brand), and V521 (serial?) so it could be the flatsides.
Sorry any physical difference to the flatsides and the cvks that i could see without taking the tank off?
    Would a picture help?

. Not knowing what flat slides are like internally in comparison to the CV, I couldnt draw a positive conclusion about the outside appearance, but the CV carbs should have that bowl thing on top where the rubber diaphragm sits. AFAIK the CVs have CVK printed on the outside of this. At least my CV carbs off the L model do....

Yeh now that you mention it - the cvk's on my mates H model had it printed on the side. But mine are blank.
Might take the tank off sometime and check more indepth.

Cheers Stew. That smile lasted all the way down 22 and back, temporarily retreating for a gardening trip, but luckily it stayed shiny-side up. To bin on the first ride would have absolutely, totally, completely sucked .... but I didn't
