Before I bought my Street Triple, I test rode an MT-07. I can't think of a less sporty power delivery. That engine was all about the torque. It would be a major disappointment going from an old R6 to an 'R7'.

If they have to kill off the R6, then something like the RS660 (or even the new Street Triple) is what they should be aiming to compete against in terms of power and performance.

First thing I thought is RS660 . I guess it all depends where you want to ride it.

A Real R7 would come and slap you for even suggesting that name (if it weren't for lack of MIQ spaces), so think yourself lucky.

Looks like it might be an R7 after all.

Next years Hayabusa is going to be based on the GSX650 platform and there's a Fireblade based on a Harley because that's how fucked up marketing bullshit is.

The 600 supersport market is all but dead, manufacturers are just responding to market demands.

There's nothing wrong with the GSX650F - I've got two of them and sold my third one two weeks ago ;-)

Chris Northover made a good point when he rode a new R7 and a standard R7 OW-O2. Yamaha's focus for both bikes was handling over outright performance.
The original R7 was 106hp out the box, up to 160hp, or so with the race kit.
A twin is never going to compete with an 11'000 rippum red line but I bet it's bloody great through teh twisties.

The real R7 would still kill il the poor imitation in the twisties.

Might be an OK bike in its demographic, and that's OK. But don't call it an Iconic name.

Nothing wrong with a GSX650. Well again, it's a budget suzuki. Meets its design brief. But if you put it up against a Busa on the strip, even Rossi couldn't make it win.

Budget bikes are OK for the masses. But if you are as skillfully as amazing as me you need the reassurance of a legend.

Anyone have a real R7 for $4000? I have some issues I need to compensate for
