My wife just had to try a hotdogs from a street vendor with one of those carts you see in 80s movies. I don't know why she expected it to be anything other than horrible.

There is a hot dog cart in Lower Hutt, in the car park of the Maungaraki overbridge. There almost every day, never seen anyone buying anything. I hate to think the unsold stock is recycled to the next day, and the next, until finally sold

Well actually the poor prick invested in his business and got a much bigger and better mobile setup.

Then some cunts stole it. Probably for scrap. Was in the paper maybe 2 yrs ago. Had to go back to his old cart. Still the old cart. Of course a lot of time no people.

Almost feel like giving the guy some money.

But I don't want to get close enough to smell what it likely smells like.

Island Bay butcher for fantastic sausages.

Yup. Either the weird colour combinations of the "cross" OR the European approach of having three colours across them... they are a puzzle.

I've always referred to pigeons as "flying rats"... which they actually are!

Back when the Gear Meatworks was in operation the foreshore was alive with real rats.

Since y'all were discussing US takeaways, Henry Cole on his Route 66 ride IIRC expressed excitement at finding a Denny's. Most of the food available to travellers was awful.

Always makes me laugh when people talk about doing route 66 as if it is a mindblowing life experience.
There is so much more to do and see in the states that is actually a memorable and unique experience, going to an Elvis and Marilyn diner on route 66 is only one step above going to McDonalds
