Pretty much what the thread title says. There is a variety of opinions for opened containers, but little info on how long you should keep unopened fluid. I have some that was made in 10/2017 and am hesitant to use it.

I think/hope the fluid will be ok ? I've just changed fluid and bled the front brakes on the 14 . I looked at the bottle which had been opened at least 5 yrs ago and carried on.
Just waiting for a nice day to test the work....![]()

I ordered this. Probably overkill, but not much more expensive than Super DOT 4 brake fluid.

That's pretty much what I found. The stuff I have is probably OK but I'm not comfortable using 7- year old fluid in my front brake. Probably fine for the rear though!

Given that the problem with old brake fluid is that it can absorb moisture, I suppose in theory it could be heated to boil the water off, before using it in a braking system. You'd have t be pretty desperate to save a dollar, though.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

I had the front brake lever go soft during a ride over the hills east of Coromandel Town. I've flushed a full reservoir of fresh RBF600 through each calliper so it should be OK now.

The brakes feel better - a few very small air bubbles came out when I changed the fluid, but I am surprised at the difference in feel.
