    Honda CN250/Spacy/Helix/Elite

Anyone know of any of these floating around? I just found one for myself to delve further in to my automotive masochism. It's ridiculous and supremely ugly. Bit would be even more offensive if I could find the missing plastics

A guy i worked with in the mid 90's had one of those, he also had a bad perm and no girlfriend I sincerly believe the three issues were not completely unrelated.
i think i have a road test on one somewhere in a oddball us mag sport rider or something (spoiler alert the road surface was not tested buy the shear grunt on the thing)

TBH i have a similar vintage Lead 125ss nearly as ugly but at least its a Reed valve 2t.

there was an even super uglier Darth Vadar styled 50 or 80 as well.
I can't recall what it was called but it had an Atac pedal.
a quick google it was the Honda Beat

    Honda V-TACS
    VTAC diagram.jpg
The "V-TACS" - Variable Torque Amplification Chamber System - works differently from the "ATAC system" and it will only work when it is used in conjunction with a tuned muffler. Tuned mufflers/expansion chambers increase power but only at the RPM they are designed for and can actually cause a power loss outside their tuned RPM. "V-TACS system" takes advantage of using an expansion chamber without losing power outside the expansion chamber's tuned RPM. Within the head and cylinder of the engine, there is a chamber that is sealed by a valve. This sealed chamber is vented onto the exhaust port when the valve is open. At low RPM this valve is open, this has the effect of increasing the exhaust manifold volume and negating the power loss that would normally be apparent at low RPM with an expansion chamber. At mid RPM the valve is closed, this enables the expansion chamber to work. It is identified by the head and cylinder, being much larger than normal for its displacement, the cylinder wall is also cast with the wording VTACS on it.

V-TACS was a foot-operated power valve system made by Honda on some of its small two-stroke bikes and scooters, like the Honda FC50
plus this one i have never seen before but they had a pop up head light and testrarossa louvers.....

I don't ever recall seeing a pop up one?

wrap-around tail lights like a Goldwing. or a touring hardly

Motorcyclists aspire to be offensive. For some it's a life intention.

If it works (and it's legal) ... and does the job you want it to ... whats the issue .. ??

Yes, the Lead. It could be pronounced two ways.

But it's one endearing feature was it had a belt driven water pump that a mate ran on his GP100 off the flywheel.

There is, or was?, a pair of Honda Beats on trademe, I have been strangely tempted by them
There's something awesome about the shockingly 80's Honda stuff.
I have seen one with the pop up light, very jealous

Having an ATAC pedal would basically complete my life

Well, that's an interesting one. I'll have a little look at that
Its those darth vadar helmet good looks.

it must be a nostalgia thing, I remember they were just as ugly back in the day as they are now.
But ugly now is kind of cute in our homogenized every car or bike looks alike world.
Maybe its like those wheel spats or Bathtubs and nacelles on the triumphs or quirky is cool like a 2cv or Bettle or morris minor

The Vtac pedal was and had to be used all the time. if made it feel faster? not sure if it made a speed difference? but the engine note changed which was just as good as a 50HP shot of nitrous.

Dave i think the water pump might have actually been from the Beat as that was water cooled i don't recall any the leads being WC (but maybe the Lead 80SS was, that had a disc as was much faster)

Like all scooters of the era, all we used to do was decarb the exhaust and replace the tires and or plastics. Maybe an occasions carb and tank clean
I never remember anyone even doing a rebore or a top end.

The most capable bike was the 50CC DJ1 as that was a rocket ship for 50 and would wheelie under throttle if you timed it right and leaned back at the correct time but it had a tiny front wheel 8 inch i think so people were a little dubious of it. it was a shit load faster than a nifty, but like the nifty it has boring looks.

    I need a Beat!!!!! You've sold me.
A friend has an RG50 I've been trying to get off him for years, what a genius little machine that is.

Sourcing anything other than the usual service items for the CN250 is proving nigh on impossible
First and foremost I want a tail light unit because mine is smashed to bits. Then I can get a wof and ride around looking like a dick.

RG50 you say? I've done the odd km on one of those. Like Wellington to the cold kiwi ,six times, despite having 1100 tourers in the stable.

Plus I might have done a few race laps on one as well for about 20 years.
