    1917-Felix Graf Von Luckner, a
    German WW1 officer shown as
    the "Sea Devil" for his exploits as
    captain of the SMS Seeadler raider,
    was imprisoned in New Zealand.

    History For The 8th Of October

    1941-Dairy farmer Stanley Graham killed seven
    people in Kowhitirangi on the South Island's West Coast.
    One of New Zealand's longest manhunts ended when
    Graham was shot on the evening of 20 October.
    He died of his wounds the following day

    muskets from England, attached
    Wakato Maori


    1917-Passchendaele and New love
    Brothers.
    During the attacks at Passchendaele,
    which began around this time, brothers
    Charles, Edwin, and Leslie New love were
    all killed in action.
