Australian's first Holden motor vehicle was launched on this day by GM Holden 1948 FX designed in Detroit. The actual company came from James Holden who was a saddler, then when saddles went out of vogue in the early 1990's he started upholstery and building bodies for cars and that's where Holden came from.
On this date in 1980 John Lennon
was shot by David Chapman.
And also on this date in 1942

Hospital north of Dunedin,
Killing 37 female patients.

He knew many other service men and woman who fought in the pacific, he totally understood their fanatical hatred of the Japanese and always told me never to show up in Featherston with a jappa car or bike!!!
True story.
