Triumph OIF screw in exhaust spigots

My ‘72 Trophy is getting a new set of pipes. When removing the screw in spigots I see that they are starting to get rattly in the threads.

I don’t want to flog the head out so need to seat the spigots properly. At the moment when screwed fully in they don’t seat on the face of the exhaust port inside the head. They just run up to the end of the thread on the outer face of the head. There’s about a 2mm gap inside between the end of the spigot and the internal port face.

Has anyone tried copper washers to pack out the gap and allow the spigot to seat properly?

I’m thinking that’s a quick fix until I can get new spigots made.

Any thoughts about which shop sells big 40mm copper washers?

if you could find some 40mm copper tube you could slice off spacers to whatever thickness you require.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

I never thought about modern bikes using copper washers. I’m sure I’ll be able to find something.

    Cheers
