Its because the pedals are throwing him off balance. If it were a tandem and the cranks phased for primary balance, (one left front one right) an equilibrium of forces would allow him to turn the way he wanted to instead of wasting time going the wrong direction. Yamaha use the same principle on their R1 for fuel injector position promoting swirl, although it differs between models destined for the southern or northern hemisphere due to the kroalis effect. Just something to watch out for on an import.

Sorry, not so. If you do a quick U-turn on an R1200RT and accelerate heavily with the bike at a high lean angle on the exit, the front lifts up fairly easily.

You can wheelie a shaft driven bike, you just need to simultaneously be doing the KB wave to get enough counter steering action to offset the jerky shaft motion
