    Samsung tablet expertise required

Any Samsung Tablet gurus here? I want to install an application (DMD2 - Drive Mode Dashboard), a navigation app that requires Android 7.1 or higher. I have a couple of older, smaller Samsung tablets (SM-113 - ver 4.4 and SM-T320 ver 6.1?) that are small enough to mount on the bike and they so far owe me nothing should they get broken.
Officially they cant be upgraded to a higher version. I have watched YouTubes till I'm crosseyed about rooting and installing later ROMs but they all seem to leave out a few important details. SO. Any one interested in getting either of these two onto ver 7.1? Cash, beer, reimbursement? I'm in Wellington.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

You're going to be looking for something like LineageOS and doing a custom install, root etc. I've done this on an S4 in the past (partially because I didn't need it), so I'll make this part really clear. You have a definite chance of turning it into a paperweight, so while it might go well, it could also go wrong and the device will be completely useless.

I basically followed the instructions, it seemed to go reasonably well... but yeah, definitely no expert.

Got a few of those, too, but too old and the screen isnt big enough.

Might just have to bite the bullet. Thanks anyway

Hey I am in Pukekohe so cant help too much.

You could try asking in https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=97 to see if anyone in Wgtn can help out.

Basically XDA forums is where all the roms are - choose one and installl..... yeah confusing as hell.

Something like that above link would work on the T320. Copy the LineageOS ROM and Gapps to the SD card on the tablet. Then use Odin from a PC to put TWRP image onto the tablet. Boot into and then use TWRP to flash LineageOS from SD card onto the tablet. Then install Gapps from SDCard to tablet.... Those are the rough steps.... its a bit hard to explain via forum typing.

    Good luck

I used a hard copy Map book inside the clear top of my Tank bag ... that sits (funnily enough) on top of the fuel tank.

Copied maps of specific routes to specific locations in unfamiliar towns/cities can be placed in the same place.

Copy-Print works a treat ... It even works in heavy rain.

That was useful and made a lot more sense than the YTs. Thank you. Will give it a go (what could possibly go wrong...?)
