    TTR230 transmission

My daughter has purchased a TTR230 that has 'done a bit of work. As a result it does not want to shift into 1st or 2nd sometimes. I have been searching for used parts without any luck to date.
Does anyone have a dead TTR230 or even just engine parts to help me repair this bike ?

Take the cover off and check the shift pawl, um, scorpion thingy. Could need adjustment.

Check for clutch drag. Check for crash bent shift shaft through cases.

Otherwise pull it apart and check for blueish of the shift forks. If they are so they are bent. New parts might not be too expensive.

30 second search example. Yam may list them New locally.

Thanks for the useful comments F5 Dave....!
I am flying blind on this one and so your help is very much appreciated..
A bent shift shaft is a good starting point. On further research even a very minimal bend can affect shifting. I have sourced a new one out of Japan ($80) and will try this first.
The shift pawl appears to be in good order (no visible wear) but I am a little confused by your comment on adjusting as I did not think that these could be adjusted ?
Any suggestions on how I can check clutch drag ?

Been a while since in yamaha and likely that the modern(!) singles are simpler than the RZ platform but you could tweak the throw of those from failing memory.

There will be 3 shift shafts, often different. But the have numbers cast on them.
