Well, she was hardly going to have an office job was she. And it was the public who paid her salary so perhaps she thought she owed it? Pretty sure the lot that follows don't think that way.

I am told she was pretty handy on the odd Mercedes as well.

I stand corrected, I will resume my search for new lands to conquer

On a side note just used google. They have dumped their flowery colouring of their name for grey, nice touch of respect from an unexpected corner given all the other stuff they push. And don’t think they’ve done it for anyone else before.

My attestation was 1965 so the memory was a but rusty. Someone of more recent vintage mentioned this and reminded me it was, the Queen, her hiers, and successors.

Google change the artwork for their name on the webpage often and for all sorts of reasons. These are called Google doodles apparently. I haven't seen any lately but I don't use Google. This particular example is different in tone as is appropriate.

Slight side note a young fella at work (well late 20Â’s lol) who I quitecrespect for his work ethic and ability is a bit taken aback at the coverage the Queen is getting.
He really canÂ’t understand what itÂ’s about.
Says a bit about modern education system and having more than two tv channels I guess.
Tried to explain how she has been the cornerstone/foundation of respect in modern society etc but a news clip couple days later summed it up better.
She has seen 13 different prime ministers come and go and guided their leadership to a degree, thatÂ’s a long time to be around influencing a powerful democracy and staying scandel free and maintaining a huge degree of earned respect.

I would have pointed out that she's been head of state for nearly half of NZ's written history.

A lot of talk both in the UK and abroad is being made of the Queue.

I think it just shows the transcendent nature of the Monarch that we see such a unity of purpose amongst the British people - a demonstration of what it is to be British - Politness, patience, civility. Thousands upon Thousands of people waiting up to 14 hours to pay their respects.

And the good natured memes poking a little fun at the British proclivity for Queuing has been well received.
