Watched Q1 & 2 yesterday waiting for Bautista to pull a rabbit out of his helmet, sadly it didn't happen. Yet.

Apparently Bautista was riding with a shoulder injury.
I actually thought both the sprint race and long race were pretty boring. I think we got a good look at the near impossible nature of executing passes due to front tyre pressures etc with this race. Once the start was sorted out, it was just another processional bore-fest like is becoming more and more common.

Listening to the commentators talking about all this extra pressure the ride height lowering devices and aero are putting on the front tyre is making it quite dangerous. Yet Michelin are not due to bring out a revised front tyre until 2025! This gob smacks me as I well remember the days when Michelin would literally make the likes of Rossi, and Doohan etc tyres over night and have them flown in the next morning. Now it's like "oh maybe next year" we will bring out a new tyre - mind blown!
Get rid of aero, get rid of ride height adjusters - they are killing the spectacle. It is not like road bikes need any of that shit anyways.

The commentators were also saying that Repsol Honda riders have now crashed a combined 50 times this year and missed 9 rounds! Pretty sure Mir must just look around the track for the most optimal soft spot to crash and just gets it over and done with by jumping off at that spot. Iker managed to finish, and I "think" Knackedgami managed to crash, remount and finish. Lots of talk around Luca Marini going to Repsol, he must be figuring he is young enough to get the big honda bucks and get a competitive bike later, or the that somehow the honda comes good. Big risk either way.

Added to that you have the tyre pressure rule added in.
According to the media Pecco got a warning because he was on his own and his pressure dropped under the rule for more than 50% of the race. Penalty is 3 seconds off.
If this bloody pressure ruling and a penalty decides the championship I am going to watch WSBK next year its a bloody lottery as to if you are in a group or on your own.
I think Pecco and Martin have warnings
They have to do something about all this bullshit I agree with Suglite if they cant make a tyre to cope with aero etc get rid of the bloody aero.
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

they will be able to air the tyres up and down if they wanted.I wonder if thats in the rule book .Agree that the penalty thing re the tyres is pretty much a lottery and that will annoy a lot of people if that becomes a factor in the title(s)

How would they do this in a race?

Yep thassit. Both contenders do have warnings, this year could be the first time a rider has to finish second to win.

Also just in, not that it probably matters but Red Bull is following MM and leaving Honda.

trucks have on board air and can alter air pressure on the fly. I am sure that technology would be easy for motogp. I would like to try it on my 4wd but the systems I see have hoses that are too vunerable, but again the tech exists

Those systems are pretty bulky. It would be interesting to see how they would implement even a down-sized system onto a bike with the rotational speeds seen when traveling at 360kmh.

You know, I'd have thought that they could work out a way to have a variable air pressure system that kept the pressure constant.. Surely a few ounces of weight vs millisecs a lap works out.

Yet so far, despite the issues tyre pressures are causing, they haven't. Maybe some time in the future, be that tomorrow or the next decade, we might.

Well I guess we dont know if they are working on something or not really - certainly nothing on the bikes yet.

I'm sure someones thought of it.

not to mention avoiding a race penalty

I like Aleix Espagaro but man oh man does he need to get anger and emotions into check.

Qualifying was fantastic, both Q1 and 2. Great action in the sprint race as well. Bring on the GP!
