Interesting. Luxon lies for the sake of it. Has never been in a debate he says. At school he was a masterdebator or something.

One News reporting that three independent economists - not Labour supporters - are saying that nationals economics around the "overseas buyers of plus 2 million houses tax" contains some pretty big holes. Luxon and Willis wont release the details but say it will work. I know who I'd tend to believe
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

"The comment about "lower socio economics" was "completely inappropriate," said the guy who called some of his fellow citizens "bottom feeders."

If Luxon is happy to have the Anti-vax Conspiracy theorist Ryan Hamilton and the thug Sam Uffindel on it's list, then I won't be voting for them again.

They’ve left the ace card til last. National plans to end stupid 80k speed limits and sort out roadworks too. This will be a major blow to labour in provincial areas where most of these stupid limits have been brought in.
Every great cause begins as a movement, becomes a business, and eventually degenerates into a racket - Eric Hoffer
But will they, though. First person to get killed ona rural road after the limit is removed will come back to haunt national, so maybe that promise will quietly slip off the list. Probably some lame excuse that the limit can't be removed until the roads are fixed, and there are higher priorities/better uses for the money (like tax cuts for the top tier)

Obviously the author of this opinion peace has a hint of bias but makes some fair points. More or less what to expect from National.

Manopausal.
It's not a political issue though is it? The pollies don't actually have any direct control over Waka Kotahi or any of the other Transport Agencies, do they? These days politicians don't like getting their hands dirty by interfering in the actual day to day operations of the various government agencies.
Changing that would be a pretty bold step for National (or Labour) philosophically, so I'll believe it when I see it.
