Well we have a new govt. I like the way Luxon has framed the arrangements and painted a clear picture of what is ahead.
Obviously deputy pm was a sticking point. Think half and half is a great arrangement. Winston’s experience will help keep things on track early on while David can be mentored and taught what the role entertains.

I watched the clip showing Luxons, Peters and Seymour's press conference, I thought it was Seymour who communicated best by quite some way. IMO he is ready for the deputy job now, and I suspect, would make a better fist of the PM job than Luxon too.

Luxon must be getting pissed off. Here he is the new PM and expecting to be the object of huge public attention and the limelight is consistently stolen by his deputy.
    (The current one.).

That wasn't hard to see coming.

Winston has been out of things for quite a while, so it follows that he'll be making the most of his chance to be back in the spotlight.

Given that he doesn't seem to have any real convictions or any particular political ideology, still being in the game at his time in life appears to be mostly about ego.

    I think I agree.

I have to admit to struggling to understand much of what Winston says....on television. It seems to me to be some sort of rushed jibber jabber.
He spits out politspeak at such a rate I dunno what point/s he is trying to make.

Clearly it is the media speeding up the playback to 1.2x normal speed to make him sound that way as part of the conspiracy against him.

Almost makes his movements look normal speed as well.

He's a twat, a distraction and a complete waste of space, been proven time and time again. Yet somehow we can't ignore him

One thing I do know - I would never go climbing rock or mountains with him.

First 100 days action plan announced, hopefully that means speed limits fixed before Easter weekend. While many have harped on about the foreign buyers tax it will be interesting how much lost revenue from increasing speed limits.
It says a lot about the media and the new govt that the worst they can critique is to harp on about Winston. They weren’t like this in the “Jacinda - mania” days when his reputation and ideals were pretty much established and same.
I suggest anyone who disagrees with WinstonÂ’s claims should read the fine print in the agreement journalists had to sign for access to public interest fund.

In any case the media is driven by clicks and advertising revenue. We shall wait and see what they report on now the funding is gone during next three years. $55 million would have funded a lot of visits to places in remote areas to report on stuff that a majority of audience prob not really interested in.

Journalists should report news without fear or favour. News should never contain any opinion of the reporter unless perhaps at say a natural disaster in remote area and theyÂ’re the only one to describe the heat of the fire etc.
With Winston representing both sides of political spectrum during various coalitions heÂ’s shafted us all one way or another at times but you canÂ’t deny heÂ’s a man whose accurate with his words.

How come Winston doesn't have his own thread....just like all the other political pricks?

Because just like in real life, he's hitching a ride on someone else's wagon.

Was tempted to start one just then but could not decide whether it should be titled PM Winston Peters or thinking ahead to 2024 RIP Winston Peters.

Not pissed off at all. I suspect he is rather pleased. While Winston is taking the heat Luxon is able to get on with the job of making sure his cabinet are primed and ready to get at it.

Sadly though, when members of the press are screwing Cabinet members there isn't much chance of what should be news getting reported. The journalists are not likely to be whispering sweet nothings tonight and blowing the whistle tomorrow.
