Heck if we could have 1/2 the population like that, on top of being able to produce free thinkers responsible for many of the sw and engineering solutions. I've worked with engineers all my life and a lot seem to end up there.

Did that fuckwit really quote Andrew Wakefield as a credible source? BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA

Andrew Jeremy Wakefield (born 3 September 1956[4][5][a]) is a British fraudster, anti-vaccine activist, and disgraced former physician. He was struck off the medical register for "serious professional misconduct"[8] due to his involvement in the fraudulent 1998 Lancet MMR autism study that falsely claimed a link between the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine and autism.

The coalition of self service is at it again. during election process "Nurses and Police need support, they are among our most important assets"
Get into power and stiff them big time.

And now they want to give their wealthy self serving crown board serving mates with altruistic motivations an 80% rise - 80 freaking percent. Greedy fuckers.

So national talked up supporting the police during the election, then stiffed them on modest pay rises as soon as they were in power. Queue the inevitable migration of veteran NZ Police taking up positions in Australia. Training new ones is very expensive, and even then, they start as green horns.
Now luxon is talking up law and order again FFS

Odd how the nats could not find the money for a modest pay rise for the police, but no problem for them to change the law giving themselves the power to give a bunch money to their wealthy mates. The same mates who in most cases sole reason for being on such boards in the first place is so they can put their thumb on the scales to improve their own business outlooks.

If course, this was always going to happen, and no surprise it was satans spawn bishop behind it.

Labor would do well to get rid of un-charasmatic chippie too - their problem? No obvious replacement that does have leader charisma.

Back when I was reading Whale Oil and the dirty politics thing was in full swing there was quite a bit of news about Mr Bishop. At the time he was doing PR for the tobacco industry which is probably a hint as to his trustworthyness. The National Party were concerned about their ageing MPs and wanted some young talent who would have time to learn the ropes before being appointed to senior positions in the party. Chris Bishop was their answer. You may be forgiven for thinking that if Chris Bishop is the answer it must have been a silly question, but here we are.

Labour problem is they created the cost of living crisis and everyone knows it. National and co have brought down interest rates saving average kiwis massively on mortgage costs. Yeah they stiffer the cops on pay rise but actual public perception routine is law and order has been restored.
Labours two potential coalition partners are increasingly leaning towards more extreme side of their wish lists.

Then there the capital gains tax saga everyone knows how that will go
To top it off they’ve got Jacinda prancing around world stage with book and movies which is reopening old wounds for those affected by lockdowns.

The next election will be crucial in whether long term this country becomes successful again or third world. Sad thing is no one party prob has correct policies to make it happen.

For sure, they went way overboard on both borrowing and subsequent wasteful spending.

I'm not sure how much national is responsible for interest rates dropping, I do feel the reserve bank went to high in the first place, but that is just my opinion.

Come to think of it, yeah, my perception would be law and order is better off now - well except within the police force itself, with pedos/bestiality fans being promoted and subsequently covered up, fake breath testing being done (over 100 police officers are being investigated after 30,961 alcohol breath tests were "falsely or erroneously recorded"), and now today in stuff, if you are a top cop wanting a promotion, you best be sending out a dick pic with half your uniform on if you want to secure that higher position.
Also, with everyone leaving the country (because nationals financial recovery is just too blindingly awesome to stay) we may need to start exporting our criminals to Australia if they are to be arrested by a NZ cop, as that is where most of them are now.
Maybe nationals 2026 election slogan should be, "national backs the blue, except you, and you, and you".

It is key to look and see what the pollies do, rather than what they say. National stiffed the police and the nurses with 4% and 3% pay rises - only to turn around and dish out their crony mates acting as advisors on boards an 80% pay rise for sitting on their self interested arses doing their best to put their thumb on the scales to enrich themselves and their companies.
Also, I see national has taken a leaf out of labors book with wanting to raise employers costs then trumpeting it as if it is they who are dishing out the cash - where as it is actually employers like myself. In nationals case it is wanting to raise the kiwisaver limits, and the last labor mob seemingly raising minimum wage every few months, while saying look how awesome and generous we are

Well the greens do seem to have quietened down a little since their kleptomaniac and people trafficking days.
However, right when they need to be the strongest in presenting a united front - the Te Pāti party have been doing their darnedest to do the exact opposite in a spectacular series of own goals - of which the latest was choosing not to attend the hui on the matter laid on by Ngapuhi - what knobs. Clearly they decided that blowing their own foot off with a shotgun was such an exciting story, they needed to serialize it with just blowing a single toe off every couple of days

NZ is one of the few countries not to have capital gains taxes yes? Though I think the brightline test or what ever it is - is in effect CGT in drag? Jacinda? Meh

What an earth party would that be?

NZ is in trouble - for sure and I wish I had the answer for it, but these goobers on both sides of the political isle just don't seem to have average wage earning/small business owning New Zealanders in mind at all.

The prick never looks smirkier than when he is making an announcement of the latest cuts to social services. Maybe this contraption below was actually aimed at customers like bishop?
