Btw for those unhappy with our colonial past and the monarchy you could try the opposite. Feeling persecuted? Well being a refugee is highly fashionable these days. Not a very high bar I know - but gosh wasn't it nice for one day, that there was law and order, the professional protestors with their trucks full of professionally printed placards were arrested, The union jack was flying and for a moment we remembered that actually there is such a thing as being British and Britishness and (for all it's flaws) it is a rich culture.
