Went to a place signposted Historic Place.
Rode past, turned around. On the bike to do it now.

Road down a fair long gravel road. Past a few agricultural type properties. And no sign or nothing. I'll assume it's an Historic Secret.
    NZs Area 51.

Hmm where does this road go? On my list. GPS says just about finished after a few kms. But then changes its mind and says 7km. Oh. Few kms. Oh. Oh well. Wonder if I can get a permit?

Hit the button this morning at 0815 . Heading up HW 57 I realized how bloody cold it was.

I was in my old race suit, I usually throw a fleece over the top but Levin was magic this morning.
(Leathers fit great , I've lost 9 kilos while recovering from the new right knee.) Bonus !!!!

Was in Pahiatua in the usual 50mins I reckon with bloody fog over the track and in town. (Pahiatua does that !!!!!).

Nice to get out and clear the head... G XXX

    Nice.

Boss dropped me off at the train station at lunchtime. Went to pick up CFM 450 from the first service. Went over Akas for a giggle after food.

Dropped in to show bike off to a friend, and he very kindly helped shorten a finger on a mechanic glove where the doctor shortened my finger last year. He's had same experience.

I wanted some leather scraps as apparently they are better rim protectors than plastic for changing tyres. He gave me some colour swatches he said he doesn't need any more. I only took a few but it's actually quite sobering when you think about it. I mean I know he's retired but. . .

It wasn't a bad Sunday in the North Waikato either. Great roads, all 100 km/h but you never see cops on the back roads anyway.

I spent the weekend riding to Napier for the night. Scenic route Manawatu the Gentle Annie which is a favourite.

Top is a bit broken up but no drama.

Had a very near miss and a reminder to keep the head on the job this morning just short of Tokomaru !

Came across a tractor toodling along . I thought, I'll just nip past this guy.
(no other traffic around luckily ?)

As I start to go past him he decides to turn right into a farm track !!!!! FUCK !
No signal at all. No slowing , just turned !!!
I scrambled around him luckily, but it was bloody close...

A good little reminder of what can happen .

Geez Gazza ... when you see a cocky on his tractor you just know he's going to pull some stunt like that...
i remember way back a couple going home from the cold kiwi were killed on the western bay road when the dozy fucker decided just over the brow of a hill was a good place to turn his tractor using both lanes.

It sure was a close one .
Spent the rest of the ride thinking that it could have been my final moment ?

I used to brush those off in my younger days !

Well did almost 400km on adventure bikes. Petes SWM ran of gas, shame. Except it was me that had to get gascan.

Lots of gravel roads and nadgery connecting that just hadn't explored before. Still hot into masterton.

    Enjoy summer.
Wind can fuck off over there though. Breathless here tonight.

Thanks for posting this. I found myself in a similar situation this afternoon passing a line of slow vehicles. There was a road ahead on the right, so I slowed down with 3 vehicles still in front. You guessed it, the 2nd vehicle, a ute, did a right turn into the road. I didn't see an indicator, although might have missed it as I wasn't following him.

What a day what a weekend. Say goodbye to summer slowly. I say it's a lie and will stick around this year.

On the 300cc 2 stroke dirtbike today. Bwwaap. Nothing like it. So glad I can again. Live life while you can.

Last Sunday bbq with DLS. You should see the steak I'm doing. It's ludicrous.

it's illegal to pass on an intersection, for that very reason
