Myself along with a couple of mates intend to ride over for the Sunday events at Taupo.....if the weather is kind that is, otherwise we will trot down to Manfield for the 14th Dec activities.

    Should be good.

Is there a schedule somewhere? I can't find anything on the track website or the link for ticket purchase.

I've posted this in a couple of groups but not much interest. Time of year, or doesn't anyone watch motorbike racing in NZ now?

if you want to go you want to, the time of the year is what it is, this meeting would not happen on anything but a public holiday, simple as that and that is what has killed most street and road racing circuits over time

Looks like the weather is just going to hold out. I didn't realise SH1 north of Tokoroa was closed so there may be more traffic on Old Taupo Road than usual.

Four from my group are heading up and I know some from the HB Classic club are going too.
The ride to the track is always exciting especially over the wonderful Highway 5....Napier Taupo and return

I just received a txt from the local Ulyses branch. They have a group ride heading to Manfield.

There was some good racing today, it was worth the trip from Auckland. Super moto was fun to watch!

I did have second thoughts after all of the SH1 detours on the way home. Old Taupo Road is going to be wrecked by the time SH1 reopens. FFS NZTA, we give you enough money to do better than that.

They were, what size motors? they were loud at the start.

How long do think the back straight is? has to be at least 1km.

On another not there was a class for adventure bikes to race???? some had tail bags and tank bags still attached....and most had working lights including brake lights?????? whats with all that NZ motorcyclists? Is it a reaction to all the pot holes and ruined roads?

It’s one of those things you don’t realise what your missing out on til you try it. An adventure bike will embarrass most sports bikes at below licence loss speeds. The larger 19 and 21 inch wheels are much more forgiving if you hit loose metal on seal, it’s not an instant front end tuck like a 17.

I was quite impressed by the 1290 in pits with gravel rash on top of switch blocks.

Great day out and that Peter Hickman chap super humble and happy to talk to us mere mortals in pits.

So what was up with the bike tampering in pits? Skylarking by friendly rivals or people’s kids playing with the shiney adjusters?
