seeing those photo's I feel for the attendant at the service station, a couple of hundred scary bikers all turning up for petrol at the same time

We'll be there again this year, last year we rented a house and the year before that we camped the night.

It's a great ride and it's an amazing feeling leaving Himitangi with 400-500 bikes.

Closer to the time we should organise a meeting point, perhaps Caltex Mana?

It would be good to know who's staying the night as well, we could get on the booze.

Anyway...here's the other link about the coast to coast.

Whats the accomodation like at that motorcamp? Do a lot of people stay or is it the general consensus to ride home at the end of the day?

Quite a few do ride home the same day but quite a few stay as well. I'd suggest that you book a campsite in advance if you're thinking about staying, even if you don't use you'll only be a few bucks out of pocket.

The feed they put on is pretty good and they normally have kareoke(SP?), last year there was also a bonfire on the beach and a couple of dudes with A100s (or similar) had a bit of fun doing burnouts.

That was Doug Green(Pickle) and co on their CT110's.
We couldnt really stand the kareoke so started the bonfire on th beach. Am pretty sure we had more people on the beach than in the pub at the end of the night.
    Was great fun!

What happens when the guys get to Akitio beech. Do they camp over there or do some come back the same day? Either way, I am pretty keen on going.Sound like fun.

I went last year for the first time. I had two riders who were relative novices (Owned their big bikes for less than 12 months), and they had a ball. I really enjoyed the ride too. The riders were very well behaved. The Police did a great job. The whole thing was very well Organised. Even the fuel stop in Woodville was brilliant. There was a guy in the forecourt going around and collecting money and writing down the pump details. They must have sold about 2800 litres in that hour (400 bikes @ 7 litres each). I came back last year, and it made it quite a long day. This year I am thinking of staying and having a well deserved beer at the end. See you all there, you won't regret it.

Does this include off-road sections or is it all on sealed roads?

OK don't answer that. Looks interesting...
