    Im in love!

Yesterday, my love for the open road was well and truly rekindled!

Even better, it was a great chance to support our local hospitality spots in what are still pretty tough times for many.

We kicked things off on the North Shore, meeting at North Harbour Stadium. The day couldn't have started any better clear blue skies and good company.

    First stop: Riverhead Tavern.
It was a bit quiet, but that didnt stop us from enjoying a solid game of pool and a crisp Heineken before hitting the road again.

Next up was Hallertau Brewery, where the atmosphere was buzzing. We each grabbed a couple of tasting paddles—my personal favourite was the Maximus IPA, a bold and hoppy standout.

With the engines humming again, we cruised northwest for about 10 minutes before pulling into the Huapai Tavern. Another great vibe, complete with live music. They had Panhead Supercharger on tap—my absolute favourite—and it went down a treat. The friendly barmaid may have helped convince me to order a third…

Our journey continued north, following the route of the crow, until we arrived at the mighty Kaukapakapa Pub. It was awesome to see how much life had been brought back into the place. I had a couple of Heineken Silvers—not bad for a low-carb beer—and soaked up the lively atmosphere. The live music wasnt exactly my taste, but it added to the energy.

You know what came next—a scenic ride from Kaukapakapa through to West Coast Road (with a quick pit stop), before we linked up to Warkworth and rolled on to the iconic Puhoi Pub.

The sun was still shining, so we settled in with a couple of jugs. I think it was the local Puhoi brew—might’ve been Tui—but either way, it was a perfect way to finish off an epic day and reward ourselves for the hard work.

The only one of those I haven't been to is the pub at Kaukapakapa. I thought it had closed permanently after Covid but noticed recently that it was open again. There's a Hallertau in Clevedon now, good place to stop for a beer on the way home.

    LOL

After a week of stunning weather, I went for a spin on the RSV out to Waverley Beach. A nice bit of road, just have to watch for the usual rural dangers. Some really nice rises tempting the front wheel to leave terra firma.
Got back home and jumped on the wifes ZX6R and took the same route. Tyres warmed up, batteries charged, and after ride grin firmly in place. Yeah

    Hey mate,

Its well worth the trip up north! They have a great outlook area and it looks like it will be a hot spot over summer.
Hallertau is a great spot, might have to head our and check out the Clevedon one. I would 100% recommend the chilli and rocket flatbread!

    Hey mate,

Not sure if your taking the piss or not. Either way hope you had a good weekend.

    Cheers

I often ride past there on a Sunday afternoon after a ride up north, so will check it out sometime. Used to have a lineup of Harleys outside.

The Hallertau at Clevedon is the pub on the road to Orere Point soon after the roundabout.
