    Honda WN7 Electric Motorcycle

Moe: Well, I'm better than dirt. Well, most kinds of dirt. I mean not that fancy store bought dirt. That stuffs loaded with nutrients. I...I can't compete with that stuff.

The niche markets in Europe can be pretty popular though, if you look at the big scooters and Honda’s own DCT bikes.

This one’s pretty cool and can do that kind of range but at around three times the price.

The Honda has only a 130 k range That would be ok if you could charge it very quickly. 130 Ks just aint enough .That will only get me over the Remutakas and back. One of the shortest rides i would do in the 'rapa would be 219km door to door. I spose a 1/hr charge time would be doable as a lunch stop

At 13k pounds, surely this will be NZD30k+. For 130km of range (probably less given manufacturers claims being over the top)
Same as the BMW CE-04. Launches expensive, limited range, doesn't sell. Battery tech probably ain't that cutting edge. Manufacturer complains the demand isn't there. Flogs out the stock, stops experimenting.

I have a niche use case for them... but the high cost, lack of range and limited use (partially due to lack of said range)... still waiting. Perhaps the new tech VW and Ducati are testing (solid state batteries) might finally yield some improvements.

Unless the tech is using the likes of BYD technology, the constant charging hurts the battery, and at 130km... you're going to be charging it a lot.

Yeah, it's a tough sell when you can buy a really decent commuter bike for $10k. You can do an awful lot of commuting with $20k worth of fuel. As a rough calculation, my R3 would do 180,000 kms on $20k worth of gas at current pump prices. (Assuming I haven't stuffed my maths up.)
