question for any cops on here

my sister had her car deregistered awhile ago and where she lives there is no off road parking.
its been parked on the road outside her house for about 2 monthes now and she got a 200 dollar fine from the police the other day for having an unlicenced car on the road.
she rang the police station and they basically dont give a shit that it was exempt and said they saw in while doing another job on the street she lives.
so does the car have to be off the road if its been deregistered?
i looked on the ltsa site and cant find if the vehicle has to be right off the road. is this the case?
    im guessing it is.
but its pretty petty but thats my opinion and not what im asking.

    Cool

Yep it must be off the road as long as it is DEregistered
Reason: the car is NOT registered to be on the road
    .

If a car is parked on the road that has no WOF or REGO then the owners will get a fine.

Can she get her car parked on someone's lawn... NOT the lawn curb as that belongs to the council. If parked on the lawn curb, then she will get a $40 ticket.

Hope that helps. But see if she can pay it off.

Fucking taxing cunts! Piss and moan about the paperwork and still make more for themselves with petty shit like this.

They should be out there catching real criminals breaking the speed limits on empty open roads.

    Officials can be very petty!
They say theyre just doing their job, according to the regulations and laws of the land!
They say they have to do it!
They interpret the law as it is written - in black and white
When life and a viable working community is shades of grey
    They may well be right
I think they're a pack of spineless pricks who need their balls cut off (if they ever had any)
I am a Building official - and we get the same sort of shit.
Most of us try and weigh up all the factors in making an informed decision, taking into account the realities of the situation.
Some are no brained, jack off zealots, who hide behind rules and regulations to impose shit on people, for no good reason other than it is written down in a statute book - they see an us and them situation in everything!
    Fuck - I hate them!
Don't think I'll be an official for much longer..........
Rant over - as you were...

I don't agree aye. They'll probably send you out on specific wof/reg missions 'cos they haven't had any for ages and there must be some bastard out there whose reg ran out on a Sunday when he couldn't get it re-done who needs a fine to sort out his moral judgement...quotas will be instated 'cos they reckon the boys and girls on the street aren't doing their jobs, blah, etc.

People like you don't make the laws scumdog, but it's in your hands to bring about equity, no politician can do that.

You know that is bullshit mate. I'd agree if it was some cunt clearly bucking the system and driving a fucked up death trap with no rego on a daily basis and the pigs just happened to notice them but fact is your resources are deployed in the most ridiculous manner. I don't actually blame the man on the front line, most pigs I've met have been fairly decent, but the bureaucrats and fucks that persecute ordinary decent folk need a good fucking hiding cos most of them are also as bent as George Michael.

Concentrate on anti social and violent crime before worrying about poor Helens overseas holiday fund.

If she can't afford to reg it for now, and has no off-street praking, what's she supposed to do?
But what the hell, $200 is worth having her and all her friends think cops are tossers.
She should write to Annette King, she's trying to make everyone respect the Police again.

I got one of those tickets a few years back. Made me pretty irate as the car was only temporarily parked on the road, and was genuinely not in use.

I was lucky as it coincided with a spell in hospital, so I was able to weasel out of it - mind you, I only had to deal with the city council.

Good luck...try writing in, but others are right - it is a strict liability offence, and relatively hard to get out of.
