    New rider group in Auckland

Auckland has a new rider group - Random Riders. As the name suggests RR is intended as an informal group who keep in touch via phone and the site, and when the opportunity presents hit out for a daytime, evening or weekend ride.

RR is definitely NOT intended as a structured club, as there are plenty of those who are doing a great job.

To start I have put up a gallery of our counterpart Tokoroa RR's recent rides. I have also set up a forum where members can catch up on news, organise rides or share thoughts, ideas, comments and gripes.

The intention is to have no limits on bike makes, styles or models, ages or sex (although it is preferable that you have one .

Please pass the word around to your riding mates even if the idea doesn't spin your own wheels.

    Cheers,
    Bruiser

that is why we come to kiwibiker

most of the rides i've been on have seen 30+ bikes and the number seems to grow every time.

where opinion holds more weight than fact.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

    Hi Gareth,

Random Riders was established to provide opportunities for impromptu rides without any planning or formalities, yet to have a chance to get to know each other and enjoy the social side of riding.

I don't intend for Random Riders to simply duplicate what kiwibiker is doing or to steal their thunder as I believe they offer a valuable service. I also believe that RR offers something different and that may appeal to some.

Time will tell I guess, but I am a big believer in having options and also in creating them where there is a need.

    Regards,

I'm keen for something like this as well. Mabey a thread/site area or something like that which can be organised soon. I would have done one today - corro loop, 2 hours notice etc etc.

I have tuesdays and thursdays off, when I'm not flying i'll be riding - keep that in mind

you should try some of our rides. They're random at their best! And many of us already do communicate via text for 'spear of the moment' rides too, just a nice day as today is, we text/email, pull a sicky, and pick a direction..
    fukit. who's sick today?
