    Question Second Hand Drum Kit

This seems to be the place to put this thread. I am looking for a second hand drum kit (5 piece+), I've had a look on trade me but this whole auction bollocks gets on my tits.

Does anyone know of somewhere else I can look be it real or digital where if I am interested in something no one is going to autobid me out of the running????

Please anyone, someone, give me some direction......

PS My wife wants to buy me a drum kit for my birthday so this is why I am asking.

Trade & Exchange has a reasonable section for Drums and the people at the following website have some good contacts too:

Trademe can be a bit iffy too, because rather than getting a bargain, most things are close to retail. You have to know what you are looking at and be able to physically check it (make sure bearing edges are ok, hardware isn't pitted or rusty, hoops are straight, that sort of thing) before you bid I reckon. Sometimes something comes up that is worth getting irrespective of condition, but not often.

Give me a PM if you really get stuck and I've got a couple of mates that may be able to help.

You shoulda asked 4-5 mths ago-we had one then, but will keep our ears on for you. If we hear of anything we'll let you know. Have you tried your local Music store- they often have trade ins or know of people who have one to sell.

Got mine from t-e and it's good because you go around and make offers in person and get to see the kit etc.

    Give that a go.

Check for small cracks in cymbols and worn skins etc and just general condition.

Check the bearing edges on the shells are not fucked and make sure the shells are not distorted.
