If i'm up in front of traffic at the lights I usually bolt it a millisecond after it turns green, of course trying to look for any latecomers. This reminds me of that KB ride a few months ago where Big Dave took photos of our best ride *poses*, I can recall that Big Dave actually gets away from the lights a mere trillisecond after it turns green!! :spudwow: :spudwave::spudbn:

    It's classic to watch!
The one they should be doing is the exit off the motorway onto Ghuznee st./Willis st intersection. I sit at the lights waiting to go through there and count at least 6 or so red light runners every time! What makes it worse is that they come tooling along the motorway at top speed then think oh I can make that. You're f*cked if you're trying cross on the 'green man'.
Bykey - you get in touch with your Wgtn cobbers and get them to check that one out.

Bless me father for I have sinned, and um... can you bless me a few times in advance? I'm going out tonight and I'm going to be doing some sinning!

I thought Auskland was bad until I moved to Hamilton. And here we have lots of roundabouts as well, people do the "straight through" thing, don't they understand that you have to give way to people already on the roundabout. What I do is to aim for the drivers door, this scares the bejesus out of them when they see that I'm showing no signs of stopping but am tracking them personally as they try to escape. In reality I'm nowhere near hitting them but it has the desired effect!
I also find that I have to stop riding for a few days as it really pisses me off when it happens day after day. Rather like Groundhog Day.
Same dumbass, same interection, differnt day,

Ugh, some people just have no respect. Anyway, I'm looking forward to it

Agree with that, but just as good (and right next to it) is coming off the motorway and turning right onto Ti Rakau Drive.

I'll see your deliberate amber and red light runners and raise you a dumb asian bitch who completely missed the huge blinking things. Slowing down next to Lloyd Elsmore for red, she comes past in another lane (thank my lucky stars) and goes straight through, suddenly stops 50m after the intersection as if confused... in the middle of a lane, middle of road. Then sorta carried on...

Actually Magua, I was talking about.. when people indicate to go turn left, then they should start to pull over to the left hand side of the road before the corner..

Instead of pulling and turning left at the last moment, thus creating a bottleneck at that intersection or turnoff.. and most of them dont indicate either.. just making it worse.

    anyways.. as you were.

*Every* time i go on the Auckland motorway at least one person in a car/van/4wd tries to kill me. And this is usually only short commutes to work or on my way out of town for a blat or tour. I ride very sensibly around town (and outside of town too, of course) I can't imagine what the count would be like spending all day on a bike in that chaos. Good on ya bykey, keep those survival skills honed.

So why did they decommission the Auck City red light cameras? I would have thought a ready made cash cow like that would be set up at every set of lights.

OPPS SORRY, I just saw you are from New Plymouth. Here in Jaffaland, where transit in cars is difficult at times, people tend to go a bit faster where they can and at times risk it and put trust in the ABS, AIRBAGS and Crumple zones. I understand general transit is slower elsewhere, anyone transiting through Taupo will know what I mean.
Interesting enough, I was pulled over while travelling in a cage in New Plymouth the other month... .. for 'Running' a amber light .. needless to say, I did not win my argument that I did not.... .....but as a lazy barstard that I am... paid up when the letter arrived in the mail.

You been away for a bit then ?
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !
