Yeah quite popular here, as well as no gloves. ACC should do a good promotion on this stuff.Originally Posted by SkOrM

I saw today somebody riding a 916 or 999 bike. They wore gym shoes, jeans and casual jacket. Surely with such an expensive bike they'd be able to buy proper gear.
90% of the time spent writing this post was spent thinking of something witty to say. It may have been wasted.
i ride in shorts and tshirt all the time round town. 2 reasons - i ride slower - MUCH slower, and i'm hardly going to put my violators on to ride 1km for fish and chips. in fact, i'm about to hop on the TL and ride down to the tersting station in my shorts and wind jacket.
and the other thing - mind your own fucking business. i'll ride how i want, in what i want. i've got top of the line gear, but if i don't want to wear it, i don't see how that affects you in the slightest. i don't see a thread about all those people driving around without their seatbelts on anywhere, or kids riding their bikes without helmets, or people walking about in barefeet or jandals (oh hang on, there was one of those)
I reckon it should be a law that suitable clothing should be worn, taxpayers shouldn't have to subsidise the bill for someone who needs skin grafts because they aren't wearing the right gear. Its silly how passengers in a car need to strap themselves in when a motorcyclist can ride a bike in their underwear.
No amount of slowing down can reduce the number of idiots on the road.

I have to sit on my ass in a call centre all day, and therefore can't / won't ride with leather trousers and wear fairly sturdy jeans instead. Are they safe? Not as safe as leathers no, but it's all about the risks and compromises you're willing to make.
My belief is that as long as that person is doing no harm to anyone but themselves then let them get on with it. Offer advise by all means, but don't be surprised when they tell you where to stick it.
I'm guilty of under gearing![]()
only real gear i have is helmet and gloves, try to wear jeans, but karkia pants look so cool
