Being serious for a minute,I think if people try to stay on or near the thread topic that'd cure the problem. That's what I think really pisses us off.
Ok that's long enough, can we talk beer now?

Why does this sound a little like..i have bastardised other peoples threads but don't do it to mine. .As far as the dyno thread i was flipping past the dyno bit and reading the boat part, freedom of choice,no harm done ?...I think it has to be remembered not everyone is a motorcycle expert,As said before i am somewhat of a newbie to this site but it was obvious from a early point as said before, there is a somewhat high number of people who's posts are nothing but to post abuse, they are then rewarded with idiotic amounts of Rep which just encourages them, the flipside being in near all cases those same people turn into crybabies if they themselves get a wind up..go figure..Nothing wrong with a bit of humour "etc" if it is used with respect. The amount I regularly post each day has gone down ten fold ever since I started thinking about what I post

Surely this is too precious to let go and we all have a responsibility to make sure this happens. The moderators could probably help to a limited extent but finally, the outcome ultimately rests on us as members. No whinging, no buck passing - it's OUR responsibility.
    Great post mate.

We have not been on the site long and have totally enjoyed it. Not to mention we have met people through here, made new friends, gone on awsome rides, swapped information, gained knowledge, and simply had fun along the way. If your astute enough you will spot the ratbags and just ignore them, hopefully they will get tired of not being able to piss people off and go play elsewhere. For those who get offended, toughen up a little, and Im sure there is some facility to lay a complaint BUT all you have to do is keep your own integruity in tact and stick to doing the right thing yourself by the Kiwi Biker site. Good to be discussing this vital point, now back to making new friends and finding out info I need :spudwave:

Perfection is not something you should ever attain, but something to always strive for. For if we actually achieve our idea of perfection, is it then any longer perfect?

I've been here for just over a year, and every few months a post exactly like this one crops up.

And every few months a new member or three pops up and stirs the place up, having a jolly time winding people up, hurling personal insults and generally trying to turn any thread into something about them. Eventually they leave, or become just a normal member of the KB community as we learn to understand what makes them tick and they become more well known in the real world.

Eventually the people who currently 'live' on here will get bored/ start to realise just how much time they are wasting, and stop posting so much crap. Been there, done that myself.

Eventually our current crop of trolls will either leave or start to realise that it's not all about them. They will realise there are some bloody good people on here who they care about, so they will stop trolling.

And then it will start all over again.

And there will be another one of these threads...

Nothing's happening to KB that isn’t reflected in society as a whole IMO. Get a bunch of bikers together and they'll talk bikes n bollox all day long.

I for one don’t know a huge amount about bikes, their mechanics and such like. But I like riding them, and I like to think of myself as an experienced rider, and I often chirp in on bike related threads, expressing an opinion, advice etc based on my views and experience. I'll also post something a little off topic from time to time, have a laugh, joke, pi$$ take etc. I leave the real in-depth bike chat to the likes of Frosty, Ixion, Viffer, Kickaha (to name but a few) who all bring an enormous amount of knowledge and experience of bikes to this site. These are the kinds of guys I originaly came here to learn from. But at the same time have a laugh and joke.

Inevitably, as with any conversation, the thread topic may morph into side discussions, tongue in cheek abuse and such like. I for one like this. I like bikers, and to tell someone that they can only ever talk about bikes, ever, would be wrong (not saying you are Gareth), and I'd bet my left man breast that this site would suffer if we were to do so.

Then there's the trollers - fishing, looking for a bite. Sometimes it's funny, sometimes it's boring, sometime's it's just plain annoying as someone posts shite just to clog up the servers memory in an attempt to get their post count up etc. It was even worse when we had a table of most respectable members etc.

The evidence that this site is alive, growing and a great source of knowledge, fun and friendship can be seen in the ever-growing number of members here. Sure there will be some hard nosed, die hard bikers that throw their proverbial teddy because we cover other topics here, and may even leave (or pretend they’ve left, but secretly lurk in the background) but tough shit IMO. Majority rules. And what Spank says and allows it law.

But I'm with you on the personal abuse stuff. I for one would like to see the mods come down heavier on anyone who hurls genuine personal insults. And I'm also a fan of keeping threads in the correct section (although I have made the genuine mistake of posting in the wrong section from time to time).

So while I agree with what you're saying Gareth (nice Welsh name there mate) I'd hate to see this site being reduced to bike only threads, as this place would loose its attraction IMO.

I haven't really noticed that the site was fulling up with people trying to get the highest post scores.

Do you honestly REALLY care that much, Gareth?
Are you losing sleep at night over this?

'sfunny, you know. I've undoubtedly been in the back of a few minds as they grumble about people hiding behind 'internet anonymity'.

yet... I'm the same person in person that I am online, and I'm happy to call any cunt a cunt to their face.

Get rid of the reputation nonsense.
    Hide the post count.
That'll sort a goodly portion of yer silly threads.

    seconded.

or at least leave the reputation thing as a mechanism for one-on-one post-related comments, but make it entirely private.

Sometimes the silly threads are entertaining, anywho some people kick up a shit cause someone acts like an arse in a thread. You have to have a happy medium, yah know?

A lot of people have said that but nothing has been done to them yet

Best idea I've heard is to just have them in peoples profiles

    No problem wid that.
I've been known to indulge in silly threads, thread hijacking and acting like a complete arse on many occasions. Just stick to the appropriate venue.

Oh, and BTW - will someone show that twat where his caps lock key is?
