I've got a 40gig iPod Photo that is great for riding. Wouldn't touch Sony digital music players personally, nasty software. I love Sony gear generally but they digital music players are dog rough compared to the competition. Form over function.

Plus the click wheel is a piece of piss to control even under my leathers, with gloves on.

Some of first lot of nano's were prone to the lcd screen cracking. Mind you , they are so thin that you could into a protective case and they'd still be smaller than any of the current 2- 6 gig players. If they played the wma format I'd by one. WMA at 192 K the sound quality is slightly better than similar sampled MP3. Notice the diffenence when it's plugged into HiFi.

Stuff iPod. Go with an iRiver PMP120 and you'll be able to play all your MP3s, .oggs, .wma files as well as DivX, Xvid movies!! Set it up on a tank mount and you'll be able to watch Top Gun, Biker Boyz or Torque as you cruise down the highway (though why anyone would want to watch any of those is a mystery to me). Also real god if you stop at a motel as you just plug her in to the motel shitty TV and watch the movie you ripped the other night from Video Ezy

iRiver - are they still in business?

or if you don't have oggs, .wma, DivX, Xvid files (or even know what they are) and just want a good music player - buy an iPod.
not everyone wants something to play stolen content on.

Now the new 30gbs are a week away, i'd guess there will be better prices on the colour screen 20 gb iPod - like around $450 inc gst.

Badcat..that sounds exactly what i am looking for ..the best audio, with as many tracks as possible which 20mb seems to have, in the simplest package... The iPod Boilermaker/Welder 20MB ..some of the other options are great but i don't think i would use them...i looked at the DSE Link Sarge put up and never realised there were so many!!!

Hmm.. I've got a Creative Zen 20GB.. only have 743 tracks on it.. got some nice features.. ya can partition it off to transfer other file types without it throwing a hissy fit... Though battery doesn't last as long as I want it to.. so its on the charger every night... battery is changable.

I've got an iaudio u2. 20 hour battery life off its internal battery which takes about 2 hours to charge by plugging it into the usb port on your pc.
It holds a gig, it's pretty tiny (about the same dimensions as a lighter) and I've used it every day for over a year now with absolutely no problems. No sign of the battery flaking out either. A gig of music is fine if you've got a pc you keep your music collection on and just change the playlist every week or so. I think it'd be a pain to have a 40 gig playlist on an mp3 player.

It just shows up as a removable drive when you plug it into the usb too, so no monkeying about with proprietary music programs like iTunes, and you can chuck any file type you like on it. Does voice recording and radio too. The reception is pretty good.

Oh yeah it's cheapish ($295) comes with a stack of accessories including a protective case and looks cool too.

There's also the iaudio g3 which is the size of a zippo and has the same hardware and storage capacity, except it'll get 50 hours life off a single AA battery. It's the same price as the u2.
