    Identifying and meeting KiwiBikers!

    Ponder this.
I had a very strange experience at the Moto-Guzzi owners ride in at Otematata recently.
I new that KB'r Paul of NZ and some others were going to attend the Otematata ride in, so I sent him a PM and told him that as I live there I would like to meet up with him and say gidday. He and Vicky would be very welcome to call in for a coffee etc.I explained where I live and how to get there.
There were quite a few other functions on at Otematata over Labour W/E so obviously there were many more people around than usual.
Guzzi's began arriving steadily up to about 150 bikes, I think I was told.
I was passing so stopped to look at the bikes and see if I could identify any Kiwi Bikers among them. Met the organiser, nice friendly guy. In passing mentioned I was hoping to meet someone among them.
Whats their name? Ahh don't know!
What do they look like? Ahh don't know!
Where do they come from? Ahh don't know!
Well how on earth do know them? Ahh, have you heard of Kiwi Biker? Ahh NO!
Well mate I really can't help you much can I. Ahh no not really!
Wanders off feelling like the fucking village idiot!!!
This happened quit frequently over that weekend.
Help!!! how do you identify unknown Kiwi bikers you know are there but you don't know them? Try it some time. Cheers John.

Some have stickers on their bikes, some sometimes randomly wear KB clothing.. Others just do stuff

the KB T-shirts and patches are there to identify us in crowds. works a treat, too, I hear.

Paul probably hadn't taken his medication that morning, and forgot to put the right top on.

not everybody has the stickers on their bikes, but it's not a bad idea. you never know who you'll run into while stopped off in the middle of nowhere, eh?

Just assume every biker is a Kiwibiker. Ask them what their name is on the site. If they say what site ask them if they have a computer.

No seriously most Kiwibikers look like Bill Gates or Steve Jobs.

Wearing the K.B emblem somewhere on your person should help. Having said that I wandered around the Northam M/C festival with mine on for mstriumph to spot me and she didn't. (unless she took one look at me and scarpered)

Know what you mean Oldrider. My first ride out after joining up here was to the Nelson street races. But Dangerous (or was it Kickaha?) was there with his KB T on so no probs.

I have now got a Tshirt (and usually wear it to rallys etc), and stickers on the bikes. Everyone should shout themselves a shirt for Christmas, better than giving yourself sox (that's sad).
I have just found out that they have removed the word gullible from the dictionary

When I go on rides I make sure I take photos and post them here when I can so that usually identifies a few people.

Paul appears in quite a few I posted here http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=4971 such as in this one where he is the guy without the helmet on standing by his Guzzi http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/at...achmentid=3347

Keep a look out for our threads and try and remember the faces and the bikes.

Being a Ulyssian myself as well as a KB'er I always wear my Ulysses name badge so I'm easy to spot - badge says "Merv" on it and "Porirua".

If you see me on my WR you'll see I have my KB sticker on the front. With the VFR never got around to sticking stickers on it but it and my WR have a Ulysses number badge on the back.

fwiw..i went to get some of those KiwiBiker Stickers... with over 100 paypal transactions to date i thought it would be easy when i spotted that option..no such luck..after hitting the button and expecting to simply pay, instead there was alsorts of stuff to fill out and it appeared to be off shore...hit the back button and left it at that. :slap: maybe i missed something but paying should be straight forward, not a drama.

    Peaked Cap?

I had no trouble finding Paul, we had arranged that but when Paul and Vicky were away on a ride I knew there were other KBr's there and tried to find them. Found Skyrider by chance, he heard me asking the wierd questions and identified himself, that was great.
I wonder about a KB cap. I was wearing my "Rider Motorcycle Seats" hat. Would "Kiwi Biker" caps make it any easier for us to recognise each other?
I just raised this as a thread because it struck me at the time as a significant issue that may affect us all at some time. Thanks for the replies. Cheers John.

Perhaps a pin or a badge might be the answer, possiblity it could also have their user name?
