Trip Tauranga-Christchurch

After my mother brought a 250cc Piaggio scooter I am seriously looking at flying up and riding it down.

I am close to booking an airfare to Tauranga that leaves tomorrow at 5:30am.

I might go on a sight seeing tour with a sleeping bag & tent or just ride straight to chch, so if anyone wants to organise any weeking rides along the way that would be good.

Things I will pack:
protective gear
cell phone
money
sleeping bag (or just a plastic sheet and some blankets if it is smaller)
camera
possibly laptop, but probably not
tie down for interislander
am I missing anything.

The most I have travelled before was about 350k into arthurs pass a few times and back on my FXR150

I am now in Wairoa after flying up yesterday and riding town to here where my sister lives. The ride was excellent and I managed to wave to all the motorcycles going the other way so If you were out on the road and saw a large red scoooter with a big screen it was probably me. The scooter did take a little getting used to especially around town, but on the open road it is very easy to ride. Today the weather looks a little worse but tonight at 10pm I will ride to Wellington to catch the 3am bluebridge ferry and then for the last leg to Christchurch.
