They have currently canned that idea !

Also the limit is now 40k over, not 50. Or is that from April1??

My understanding is that the revised regulation doesn't come into force until 1 April.
My riding is still based on that assumption. Could be awkward if I'm wrong...

the govt has already rejected demerits on speed cameras and hidden cams in that safety strategy 2010 already a

I know that this is an old thread but for those interested, 16 January 2006 is the big date when you will be able to have your licence suspended immediately for exceeding the speed limit by more than 40km/hr.

This is also the date for new drink drive laws as well - only have to blow 650mcgms before losing licence for 28 days (currently 800mcgms), 2nd offence in 4 years - licence suspended immediately, 3rd offence in 4 years - car impounded.

Soon to be followed by a 30k over walking speed, as in Victoria. Unless we get a Govt that reins in the Land Transport National Socialists.

I know that the speed camera office keeps photos of riders doing stupid things in front of cameras (speeding isn't the only thing they do!) where they haven't got the numberplate, and cops are constantly on the lookout to match the gear of riders they see on the road to that in the photo. Not sure if they can do anything at that point, but once they recognise you, you can bet they'll be keeping an eye on you. It's a wonder they haven't started running them on that police show on tv - sort of like security camera footage!

I can hear it now, "We're looking for a rider wearing black gear, black helmet, riding a blue bike". That'll narrow the search down a bit.

Yes, but for those who wear a particular colour jacket, a helmet with graphics and ride a distinctive bike, you are pretty easily recognisable once you do something to piss them off! And if all the speed camera shots are in one place, it's pretty easy for them to assume you live locally and keep an eye out for you. Them's crafty buggers!

You really have one arm!? What one is missing and what have you found you need to do different now when your riding? Since it's your user name and all I'm assuming it's not a secret.

If this is the case then The Hagg's motorcade drivers MUST be convicted of dangerous driving as they admitted exceeding 100kph by morethan 51 kph

pretty sure if you are over 50 over the limit. you get summoned to coourt and they find out who had posession at the time.

+51 KPH is the current threshold for getting a court summons. The charge would simply be exceeding 50 or 100 kph, whichever was the appropriate speed limit. If a dangerous driving charge was to be laid it would depend on the circumstances and how much above the posted speed limit you are. You won't be charged with dangerous driving based only on a speed camera infringement, they are fines only.

As a side note, everyone needs to be aware that in January the +51 threshold for instant 28 day loss of licence becomes +41.
