    Who Here Flys

Well, I have noticed that quite a few people here have expierence in the avation area.

I think motorcycling and avaition go hand in hand, quite a few avaitor people I know also ride motorbikes.

Anyway, I was wondering who, and what.

I fly gliders. I went solo at 14 and I am still flying.

I know of one chch kber that "fly's" quite often, although not in the way you're thinking. Gets these crazy thoughts about going on rides with his imaginary friends among other things.

I have a Bronze Gliding medal in a box somewhere, earned during my 16th Summer. CBCIFTCB.

One glorious solo and then I've somehow never, ever, done it again.

Bikes give me the same fix, and I just don't have the same desire to fly that I did.

Not for 25 yrs - having to give up Piper Cubs, Moths and the occaisional run in a Sea Fury sort of took the shine off it........oh, and kids.............. Never could get the hang of flying a plane with flaps!

Got part of my way through the PPL years ago and then had to stop because of marriage, money, mortgage...

I'm currently plodding my way trough my PPL, solo earlier on this year. Mostly flying Cessna 152's, tho I did fly a 172 the other day, which was quite a nice change from the 152's.

I will be getting my CPL, instrument and instructors rating over the next 2 and a half years, and hopefully get a job at an airline within the next 5 years or so. Motorbikes are newish to me, but I'm already hooked.

Good man, except instead of Straps, we were told Cock-Cruncher, cos that's how tight the straps were supposed to be

10 hours and 30 minutes of that solo, and I was launched by a newbie tow-pilot doing her first glider tow. Ka 7 Rhoen-Adler and ASK 13 were my steeds. The Ka7 was a bit difficult to keep station on small thermals, but the 13 was a lot livelier and was even nicer with only one passenger.

Spent an hour ridge running on the Kaimais - what a buzz. Fantastic pilot who's name escapes me.

I have been on an introductory Glide out at Drury...was a birthday pressie.

Lots of fun, wingovers and stuff, but I don't think I will pursue to glide myself..like the bike thing : )

I will be going for my first 10,000 foot parachute jump soon (another birthday pressie) just waiting for a beautifully fine day...

did a bit of flying down nelson way earlier this year - went low level down the molesworth rd, ending up eventually at queenstown, then up the west coast - re-living the beach flying done by the fox majors back in the 30's. awesome week's flying. mate of mine is an oohmaanaka instructor (and Air Nelson training captain) out of motueka - tried to talk me in to flying with him, but i like my wings to be still....
