As promised, I got one of those 'really crappy' excuses for a back protector from Quasi yesterday. GUESS WOT!!!?? They are actually damned good. But don't tell him - he'll put the price up to what they are really worth. Get in quick before he realises.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

I have to say, I'm happy with my back protector too, I'll buy the pants to go with it when I can afford them Bret

Got mine, thanks Quasi, they are indeed very high quality and comfortable!

My flatmates are worried about my Ninja Turtle impression though.....I'll admit it does need some work.

For a number of reasons I decided before Xmas to get myself a back protector, and thought I'd give Quasi a go seeing as he has had some good feedback from people here, and despite having access to some good prices on the usual brands through a mate.

First thing I noticed was the quick reply to my PM with advice on sizing, which turns out to be pretty spot on. Second thing I noticed was the price - cheap, to which I wondered am I getting some dodgy cheap rubbish?

So, I'm just back from my 2nd ride and thought I'd post a quick review. Of course, I did a search first and thought I'd dredge up this old thread instead of starting again.

I've never worn a back protector before so can't really compare with other brands. When I first put it on (after it was promptly delivered) it felt a bit strange, especially at the base of my spine. However once the other gears went on it felt like it belonged (for want of better explanation). It's very comfortable, and sort of encourages good posture by providing support in the right places without forcing the matter. All of which is a good thing, because if it's a pain to put on or wear then it won't be used.

Cheap? Only in price. I hope I don't get to review it properly, but it is good quality kit. I don't know if the product's changed much since the previous reviews, but if it has then it certainly aint in a backwards direction. Cheers Quasimoto!
