Grats jsg, still riding the zxr with an oil leak and no temp gauge thats just CRAZY did you even know if you had a proper working cooling system, makes ya wonder - sounds more like an oil starvation/delivery, because just because it drips and you top it up it wont fix the problem, its all about that fabled compression...
anywho good on ya.
Hey John - the temp guage did sorta move - but it would rarely move away from the blue line.Originally Posted by John
Where does yours sit???
yeap you would have had a problem, around town she will hover around mid depending on my filtering / how ruff I am with her, on a ride when the speeds are 160+ its normally sitting quarter of the way up, make sure you get that fixed eh, I am ALWAYS watching mine, best way you can tell if anything is wrong, get used to how your engine warms and cools, if its getting alot hotter than normal switch it off and check everything..Originally Posted by justsomeguy

Still getting to know the new bike.....
From the diagnosis - a rod got out of line. There was quite a bit of oil in the engine. Despite spilling half on the motorway![]()
So you are the reason there is so much oil on our roads! Good stuff getting everything sorted so quickly. I would not have ridden a ZXR much if I knew a temp gauge was not reading, like John, I too keep an eye on it.
Was a bit scary having that oil coat the left edge of my back tyre - but hey it was the DWIVEOriginally Posted by SuperDave
I lose reason when that road is mentioned.
Ghandi, Gahndi (gets frightened by Ninjas all the time (GAH!), or andhi. Whatever - some little brown bloke from South Africa who ruined the British Raj.
I made several spelling mistakes yesterday, thanks to the evil of cold medication and alcohol. At least the elephants have left me alone today.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?
Post some pictures of the hole, Keen to see what the inside of your old engine looks like![]()
It's better to Burn out than to Fade away - Cause thats value for money!!
Engine Swap completed - only have to put the plastics, etc back on.
The bike needs a bit of tuning and some engine work - who are the best Kwaka people to do this job???
Mt Eden are a Kawasaki dealership...Originally Posted by justsomeguy

Good that you got the bike fixed so quick... and you are now up and running again.
But are you telling us that you continued to ride the bike knowing it was spilling out oil all over the roads... and that you also rode down Scenic Drive yesterday with Learner riders following you...
Now what if their bikes slipped on the oil on the road...
That to me is being rather foolish and careless to other riders. IMHO
You knew it was leaking oil... I would have kept the bike off the road until you found out why and where it was coming from.
